Question about Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 for PC

1 Answer

Outlook 2003 Please tell me how I get to send and receive meeting invites from people who are not on the same network. E.g. I get meeting invites from an outside company and that request comes through as an email. I actually then have to go into my calender and add it as an appointment. How can I or them send it and receive it as a meeting request and accept and it pops it into my calender -----without sharing my calender? Happy to share my calender to show busy but not happy to share details...

    thanks for responding.

no, it arrives as a simple email instead of the usual invite.  is it perhaps because we are on different networks?

Is there not an Accept button available in the email received? Are the senders using MS Outlook as well?

Being on different networks does not effect this. Are you sure they are sending the meeting invitation through their calendar? Again, are the senders using Outlook as well?

NOT getting response notification of my outlook 2003 meeting invite that I sent within my own company. Checked request response is checked, searched through calender option and did not find any issue. did...

when you send a request of receipt the receiver has the choice to send a receipt or not. It is probably that they did not choose to send a receipt. try to send yourself an email and request a response and see if you have a reply.

I cant receive my emails

You can't receive emails? You need to give more information. Are you using a Web mail (i.e. Yahoo mail, Gmail) or are you using an e-mail client (i.e. Outlook 2003/2007; Outlook Express)?

Email clients uses two types of account, POP3 and IMAP.

If you are using an e-mail client like Outlook 2003, you need to change the incoming mail server. Please follow the steps below:

For Outlook 2003/2007:

1. Open your Outlook and then click on Tools.
2. Go to Accounts or Email Accounts.
3. Go to Mail tab and you will see the account that you have created (like or
4. Double-click on pop or imap account and then go to Advanced tab.
5. You will see the Incoming Mail server.

By default, the incoming mail server is set to 110, you may change it to 995 and then select SSL. Then close and reopen your Outlook and click the Send/Receive button.

Now, if you're just using a Web e-mail like Gmail or Yahoo mail, you need to check your storage. There's a possibility that you reached the quota storage of your email that's why you are not receiving emails. You need to contact your email provider for this problem.

If you have a router on your network, you need to check the router settings and perform a Port Forwarding. You have to open the port 110 or 995 so that you could receive e-mails.

These are the things that you need to check and consider.

Have a great day!

I use microsoft outlook 2003 and two weeks after the emails were sent to me, I just received them. Can you please tell me why the long delay. Thanks!

The problem may be on your ISP's side. I would ask them to verify your account. Also, can you receive emails immediatley if you click on the send/receive icon in Outlook 2003?

Another area to check is the options settings for checking email. I have outlook 2007 but it's either the same or similar.

click on tools then options then Mail Setup.
click on the Send/receive button and verify that the "Schedule an automatic send/receive every (X) box is checked. The x is typically 30 minutes.

If you change this be sure to click Apply or OK to accept the change.

Ms outlook 2003

Hello CMS34809,

If MS Outlook takes 10 to 15 minutes, of course you have a problem.

Try to ask your Network Administrator to reboot the Exchange Server, and then restart your PC (client), log in to your Domain, and try to open MS Outlook. If this doesn't solve the problem, then I think that it can be an IP or DNS conflict in your network. Tell your Network Administrator to troubleshoot that.

Hope this helps

Please tell us about your progress

Best regards
