Short pins on the bios chip. I have done this on T42's. I assume it will work on T30's as well. You'll have to search the internet for which pins to short (usually pins 5 & 6 or pins 7 & 8), but you short the pins together and turn the machine on. Be careful! Do it at your own risk. Once you are into the BIOS, you cancel the password settings and save.

emove the CMOS battery, POP will be vanished right away. But after that, you have to enter BIOS to set the time/date, otherwise laptop won't boot.

So wait, its asking for a BIOS/CMOS password? If so, one thing you can try to do is remove the CMOS battery. The battery is about the size of a nickel and can be found on the bottom of your laptop. You'll have to unscrew a few things to find it. Once you do, take extreme precaution when touching anything inside the computer. I would recommend getting an Anti-Static Wrist strap (sold at Best Buy). Once you locate the CMOS battery, take it out. Keep it out for about a minute and then put it back in and close everything back up. When you do this it usually resets the BIOS/CMOS password if there is one. Hope this helps!

Your computer is BIOS password locked. Its complicated as hell and really not meant to be done by an amateur but this website explains how to recover the password that seems to have been accidentally set.

How did you set the password?
Did you buy this laptop from someone?
If you did you need to get the password from that person.
There is no backdoor password available and removing the BIOS battery will not remove the passowrd because the password is stored on an EEPROM chip.
You need the password to boot up the laptop and then into the BIOS configuration to remove the power on password.

I have a problem with my lap top ibm think pad r32 he want password

If that is asking 4 a bios password your kinda real screwed. IBM has a government contract for the Thinkpad and the agreement in that contract states there will be no password lock work around. If you call IBM tech support they will suggest you send it in and they will swap the motherboard at your expense.

What is the problem when uyou switch on the IBM

You probably need to replace the BIOS battery. This battery is small and on the inside of the laptop connected to the motherboard. It stores the BIOS settings, date and time. If this battery becomes worn out then it will cause your issue. First try and press F1. Navigate to the last tab and select to restore defaults, then save and exit. If the computer boots up fine but the next time you use it the same message appears then you need a new BIOS battery. Alternatively your HDD may be damaged if it cannot find a boot device. Check your HDD is recognised on the boot menu by pressing F12, select it and press enter and your OS should boot. Hope this helps,
