Slides not working nor the power jack

I replaced my 2 batteries and my 1997 Avion 5th wheel slides do not work. My power jacks do not work.

Did you wire them in circuit? (hot lead to positive on 1st batt, which jumps to the neg on 2nd batt, and neg lead going to neg post on 1st batt, then to positive on 2nd batt) That would be for a 24v system, for a 36v you would continue to the opposite posts again.

On a 2000 Jayco Designer 34' 5th wheel, the large slide retracts part way in, then stops, even though the slide out motor continues to run. we have lived in it one year in the same campground.


possibly gear arm is bent. slide outs are not made to be sat and lived in. you should be able manually slide it in. try to lift slide out by the arm with a hydraulic jack. place jack on ground use a 2x4 or 4x4 between jack and gear arm and lift gently. the teeth on arm could be stripped also. just ease into it..

How do you replace the right rear wheel speed sensor on a 2009 Dodge Caliber


The sensor is located at the rear of the brake disc, it is held in by a single bolt and then just slides out. You must jack up the car, secure it on a jack stand(s) and remove the wheel to get around the back side more easily.

Acer aspire one charging port loose


If I recall this model line uses a fixed DC power jack directly soldered to the main board. When they become loose, you can visually inspect the jack itself (without the cord plugged in), and use a pen or probe to see of the center peg is excessively loose. The common result is the solder connections have been broken between the DC jack and the main board. Often the jack itself needs to be replaced (involving complete disassemble, de-soldering old jack, cleaning, repair PCB if needed, and re-solder new jack in place.
TIP - if it is not charging, remove battery, and gently put pressure from different angles with the power cord plugged in, and try to turn it on. If it turns on with pressure from a specific angle, it would indicate the DC jack is indeed loose, and likely needs to be replaced. It works becomes the pressure is making the electrical contact that has other wise been broken. ALSO, if it turns on easily, yet losses power at certain angles, its a similar issue.
TIP2 - If it still indeed charges regardless of the angle, and does not lose power, it may be a "Modular" DC jack, meaning the jack connects to the main board through a wire harness, and is less prone to breaking the electrical contacts, and the jack is simply loose inside it's retaining clips/slides. Minor disassembly and hot glue are quick fixes for this since usually the plastic clip/slide in the chassis have broke.

I need to put my winter tires on but I don't have the owners manual and don't know where the safe jack points for my jeep are. I'm ready to get this task done before it gets colder but have no clue


If you want to do the job yourself, get a hydralic jack that slides under the vehicle and you pump up away from the vehicle...it's safer than the Jeep jack by far! Before jacking it up,make sure you are on level ground and block the wheels and loosten the nuts on the one wheel you are about to remove. When you jack it up find the strongest chassis metal section nearest the wheel but not so close it's in your way while working. Jack it up, put a jack stand under the metal area near the jack point on the Jeep to catch the Jeep if it happens to slip off the jack. Pull the wheel, mount the wheel with the snow tire. and finish tightening the nuts ON THE GROUND. Reverse the process to get the Jeep on the ground. and finish tightening the nuts ON THE GROUND.

How to Replace a CV Boot
( DIY Complexity: Hard / Time: 3.2 hours )

Parts:
1. CV Boot
2. CV Boot Clamp Kit

Tools:
1. Mallet Hammer
2. 3/8 in. Drive Ratchet
3. Combination Wrench Set
4. Floor Jack
5. Flashlight
6. Flat Head Screwdriver
7. Socket Set
8. Tire Iron

Steps:
Step 1 Secure the vehicle on a level surface, making sure the vehicle will not roll or lean too much when jacked up.
o Tip: Safety Tip:Always wear safety glasses when working on your vehicle. Wear other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary, for example latex gloves or safety shoes.

Step 2 Lift up the front of the vehicle using a jack.
o Tip: Using an aftermarket floor jack, instead of the original equipment (OE) jack, can make the job easier and safer. Verify the condition of the floor jack before use.

Step 3 Secure the vehicle with jack stands on both sides for safety before starting any work. The pinch welds and the frame are the two best locations. Do not rely on the jack to hold the vehicle up while working.
o Tip: Try to find a flat, level, and strong surface to put the jack stands.

Step 4 Find the correct size socket and large ratchet or tire iron and turn the wheel lug nuts counter clockwise. Remove the front wheels.
o Tip: It is a good idea to try and break the lug nuts free before you jack the wheels off the ground. This way they you will not spin the front wheels or put stress on the transaxle.
o Tip: Lug nuts fasten the wheel to the hub and may be on very tight. To gain more leverage, use a breaker bar to loosen the nuts.

Step 5 Inspect the CV boot for damage.
o Tip: The CV joint may be worn if the boot is damaged. Thoroughly inspect the CV joint assembly before installing the new boot. If the CV joint is damaged, replace the entire CV joint axle assembly.

Step 6 Mark the axle for installation reference. Remove the CV joint axle assembly.

Step 7 Using a bench vise, hold the shaft of the CV joint secure so that you can separate the CV joint from the shaft. Remove the CV boot clamps.

Step 8 Slide the CV boot off the outer CV joint.

Step 9 Using a rubber mallet, knock the CV joint off of the axle shaft.

Step 10 Remove the old boot from the CV axle shaft and wipe off any old grease. Clean the sealing surface on the CV joint.

Step 11 Fill the CV joint with grease and get it ready to slide back onto the shaft.

Step 12 Slide the new boot onto the shaft but do not tighten the inner clamp yet. Install a new retaining clip before putting the joint and axle together.

Step 13 Slide the CV joint back onto the axle shaft completely.

Step 14 Pack the boot with grease and slide the boot over the CV joint housing. Secure the boot with new clamps.

Step 15 Install the CV joint and axle back into the vehicle in the reverse order that it was removed.

Step 16 Mount the wheel back onto the hub assembly.

Step 17 Tighten lug nuts in a star pattern and torque to suggested manufacturer specifications in the vehicle owner’s manual.

Step 18 Remove jack stands.

Step 19 Lower vehicle with jack until it is securely on the ground.

Step 20 Drive the vehicle to make sure that any noises are no longer present and that there are no indications of wearing parts. Before road testing, visually inspect the area you have worked on to make sure everything is tightened and assembled properly.

For all the function and portability laptops provide, there are also some drawbacks. The biggest problem with laptops is with battery life. To get constant battery power, the laptop has to be plugged into a wall outlet. The wall plug then connects to the DC jack in the back of the laptop. The DC jack is no more than a little piece of metal that conducts the electricity for the computer. These DC jacks are known to be fragile and break off easily. If this happens, you can open the laptop and replace the DC jack yourself.
  1. Step 1 Remove the internal battery pack from your laptop. Flip the laptop over and locate the release button for the battery pack. Hold the button in to slide the battery pack free. It is important that you remove the internal battery pack as well as unplug the power cord from the wall outlet to prevent risk of shock while working inside the laptop.
  2. Step 2 Unscrew all of the screws on the underside of your laptop. The number of screws will depend on the model of computer. There should be one at each corner and then one or two screws that hold the hard drivemag-glass_10x10.gif cover in place. Once the screws are removed, take out your computer's hard drive. Newer-model computers will have a hard drive that slides out of the side of the computer.
  3. Step 3 Locate the two screws at the back of the computer that hold the laptop screen's hinges in place. Once these two screws are removed, gently pull up on the screen until you clear the silver pegs from the holes in the laptop's body. Two wires lead from the screen into the computer, so ensure you do not pull so hard that you disconnect them. Carefully set the laptop screen aside so it does not get damaged while you work inside the computer.
  4. Step 4 Separate the two halves of the laptop's body to expose the computer's internal components. Flip the keyboard on its face, making sure not to disconnect the keyboard's connector. Underneath the keyboard will be a metal plate that covers the computer's motherboard. Unscrew the screws that hold this plate in place and set it aside.
  5. Step 5 Locate the DC jack for the laptop. Most all laptop's DC jack outlets are located at the back left corner of the computer. Using your tweezers, remove the old DC jack. Identify the slot in the motherboard that the old DC jack came out of. If the DC jack was loose before you removed it, there will be a small slot at the base of the opening in the back of the computer that the DC jack pops into. Using the tweezers again, slide the new DC jack into this slot until you hear a clicking sound. To hold it in place you can solder the new jack to the motherboard, or simply superglue it in place. Don't use too much superglue or you will risk losing the ability for the jack to conduct electricity.

How do i get the spare tire to come down


If the spare tire does not lower to the ground,the secondary latch is engaged
causing the tire not to lower Your vehicle has an underbody-mounted tire hoist
assembly equipped with a secondary latch system.It is designed to stop the spare
tire from suddenly falling off your vehicle if the cable holding the spare tire
is damaged.For the secondary latch to work,the tire must be stored with the
valve stem pointing up.
1.Check under the vehicle to see if the cable is visible.If it is not visible
proceed to Step 6.
2.If visible,first try to tighten the cable by turning the wheel wrench clockwise
until you hear two clicks or feel it skip twice.You cannot overtighten the cable.
3.Loosen the cable by turning the wheel wrench counterclockwise three or four turns.
4.Repeat this procedure at least two times.If the spare tire lowers to the ground
continue with Step 2 of removing the Spare.
5.Turn the wrench counterclockwise until approximately 6 inches (15 cm) of cable is
exposed.
6.Attach the jack handle,extension and the wheel wrench to the jack and place it under
the vehicle towards the front of the rear bumper.Position the center lift point of the
jack under the center of the spare tire.
7.Turn the wrench clockwise to raise the jack until it lifts the end fitting.
8.Continue raising the jack until the spare tire stops moving upward and is held firmly
in place.
9.Lower the jack by turning the wheel wrench counterclockwise.Keep lowering the jack
until the spare tire slides off the jack or is hanging by the cable.
10.Disconnect the jack handle from the jack and carefully remove the jack.Use one hand
to push against the spare while firmly pulling the jack out from under the spare tire
with the other hand.

My Toyota camry xle 1997 175000miles feels as if the right front wheel "slides" a few inches when i turn right or bear right. Can feel no play in the wheel when I shake it. Any idea what's going on? Thanks


raise the front end off the ground on Jack stands. then try to find play on the wheel. it must be off the ground. I guess it your wheel bearings

1997 1500 4x4 pulls to the right


Sounds like a brake caliper hanging up. Check the slides to see that they're smooth working. Jack the right side up & make sure the front wheel turns fairly easy. If it's dragging alot then the caliper slide is fubar or the brake hose is collapsed internaly. Replace the hose if that's the case.
