You either have a tripped curcuit breaker or your heating element is blown. If the timer cannot sense that the heater is in the curcuit it will not advance check your curcuit breaker first. flip it on and then off and let me know if you have heat

unplug unit take the back panel off and check the heater it is located on the right side with 2 red wires attached to it and there is a themistate also mounted on the side all you want to check is to see if you have continuity between the 2 red wires. make sure at leat one of those red wires is detached from the heater first to get a proper reading. or you can just take it off and see where the break is it is attached by 2 1/4 inch bolts. let me know how it goes.

My dryer works on high heat on the timed side of the knob, but won't work on the low heat and high heat (more dry, less dry or energy preferred setting)

Does this mean the timer wont move or it will not dry ? if it will not dry it is more than likely the timer , if it wont advance then you have a shorted element

Dryer wont stop buzzing

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you

Timer
The timer could be the problem. To check this, turn the timer to a timed cycle say 30 minutes or so then time it. If in 30 minutes the timer hasn't moved and the dryer is still on, the timer is bad and need replaced. If in 30 minutes the dryer is off, the heating element is your problem

Heating Element
This is the most likely cause for some dryers timer not advancing. Some dryers have two heating elements and if one goes out the timer will not advance if you use it on an automatic cycle but you will still feel heat inside the tub. replace the heating elements

Timer counts down but doesnt shut off

same problem with Kenmore dryer Model No. 110.96250100. The timer would not advance under any setting. I replaced the timer and it only advances under timed dry but does not shut off when it times out. Under all other settings, the timer knob does not move, but the temperature stays warm. I checked the continuity on thermostats and resistor and, to the best of my knowledge, all passed. all in all, it appears to be a mechanical problem with your timer.

The timer does not work correctly. The timer does not move and the dryer runs forever.

If the timer doesnt even advance in the time dry cycle then you have a bad timer. However you will need to make sure that your getting heat throughout the auto dry cycle because no heat will cause the dryer to run forever. Hope this helps _MJ_

I have a roper electric dryer model # rex3514pqu. The dryer doesn't heat at all and the timer will not move, it stays where I set it. What could cause this problem?

If you have a TIMED cycle, the timer should advance heat or not. In the AUTO dry cycle the timer will not advance without heat. Unplug the dryer. Remove the rear panel of the dryer and check the heat element, relays and thermostats with a volt meter set for ohms. No reading indicates a bad part. Remember to remove at least one wire from each component before testing.

hi Gwen. I can help you.
If your dryer seems to run forever, it could be because of a clogged vent or internal ductwork. Your dryer may have an automatic cycle that turns off the dryer when the clothes are dry. It does this with a special thermostat or moisture-sensing system.

Normally, this is what happens during an automatic cycle:

  • The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature--say 135 degrees.

  • When the dryer reaches the pre-set temperature, the thermostat tells the timer to begin advancing. (If there's a moisture sensor, the timer advances only if the moisture content of the clothing is low enough.)

  • The timer advances until the interior cools, then the thermostat tells the timer to stop advancing, and tells the dryer to start heating again.

This cycle continues until the clothes are dry. But…if the vent is clogged, the dryer may never reach the proper operating temperature, so it doesn't send the signal to the timer and the dryer continues to run indefinitely, even if the clothes are completely dry. To fix the problem, clean the vent and/or internal ductwork.

Whirlpool Gas Dryer, LGR5636EQ2, timer not moving on Auto (DryMis

If that is a 3 wire gas assembly then the timer is screwed. The orange wire when removed from the mix will make the thing advance. The trouble is in the timer. If that is a 2 wire gas operator you need to change the high limit and open up the outside vent. My opinion.
