Directed 1100 d turns on but no sound

Ok ive got a directed 1100d amp when i turn my system on the amp powers up then clicks stays on but doesn't put out anything if you leave it on for a while it will start to reverberate through the sub like its trying to play but never goes any further can anyone give me an idea what is wrong or an idea how to fix it? I have a Directed 1100d i was using it to power 4 12" woofers in my home ht setup, ive used other amps with good results. it worked fine but did have a slight hum from the woofers so i turned the gain down it seemed to help. So i used it for a few hors and then heard a light thump from my woofers when i went to check it out the 1100 was in protect mode and was really hot. I decided nto disconect it and leave it cool down, the next day i tried it with a single 10" sub it was no longer in protect mode light was geen but all i got out of it was hum from the woofer but no music. The ht woofers are rated at about 4 ohms a pair I also opened it up and there was no signs of any blowen or discolored components. I then proceeded to check the output transistors with a digital meter they seem ok, the amp also has 4 what they call fast response diodes with 3 leggs the 2 outside leggs short out but im not sure if they are suppose to or not.the numbers on the diodes which actually look like transistors are 2ea YG225N2 and YG225C2 ive surched the web but havent come up with a way to properly test them any help would be great thanks.

well you got me lost it looks like there are 3 power supplys 2 small ones in the middle of the amp and 1 large one that is located on the side were the battery ground and remote on are located. there is another 2 smaller one next to it but i believe its just a coils. I guess im wondering when the amp got really hot I emagine it reipped the thermal overload, when the amp is powered the red light comes on and goes out and the green light then goes on and a relay clicks on. Is the themal overload also reset or does it need to be replaced, also i have no idea what components are what because I have no schematic. I was also thinking along the lines you are that the music is not reaching the amplifier section to be amplified your help is greatly apreciated thanks

SOURCE: directed 1100 d turns on but no sound

hi there
few steps to try
1) try grounding amp to a new location
(make sure the amp is grounded by itself)
2) check the power wire from the battery to the amp
3) if the 2 steps don't solve the problem try turning your amp settings down and disconnect the power wire from the amp after a few seconds reconnect the power wire and amp should reset itself.........
if this doesn't work let me know there are other tricks that can be done but these are the most common firsts to be tested (also make sure the ground wire is larger than the power wire)
hope this helps

Sounds like you have an issue with the amp, the install, or possible blown subs.. check, test and if all else fails get the amp serviced or get a new amp.
A good car audio shop can also help you check it over.

Hi does the amp go into protection mode? or does the sound dip and amp stays on? if it goes into protection mode there's a good chance your running the amp wrong. If it dips and stays on its a power problem that can be fixed by adding a farad capacitor.. thank you for using Fixya.com

Amp doesnt turn on.

it sounds like it is blown..one way to test it is put the remote wire and the power wire together and put it to the possitive of a drill battery and the put the ground to the nagitive at the drill battery..if it goes right to protect then it is blown!

My 1100d directed amp cuts n and out as i play it, and sometimes

most reputable car audio shops can give you (or have thier own) repair techs. is the new amplifier rated down to the same impedence you have your subs wired to?
Any protection lights coming on the face of the amplifier?
It has a lights that come on for Thermal, DC offset, over/under voltage, reverse polarity and short circuit protection.
May be a faulty turn on module.
Get it repaired before more happens internally for a costlier repair.

Sounds problem

First things to check:
  1. You changed the fuses on the amp, but have you checked the fuse that is inline on the +12V wire? Most of the time, it's right near the battery terminal.
  2. Do you have +12V at the amp's power terminals? If not, either your +12V or ground line has a break or disconnect.
  3. Try taking a piece of wire and connecting it to both the remote connection of the amp and the +12V on the amp. This should cause the amp to turn on (if all is well). If not, the issue might be internal to the amp and would require professional repair.

You will bridge the amp, and if the subs are all 8 ohm subs, you can probably wire them all in parallel, if they are all 4 ohm subs, you would wire then in series.
