cable was fastened securely to the system board. still no video output. didnt even work on a desktop monitor through the external connection. when powered up the power light comes on and it tries to load the dvd drive but cant hear the hard drive spin so may not even be a video problem. any more ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Have you check the cable connected from your laptop and external monitor?

If yes but problem persist, check and update video driver. If still doesn't work I suspected your LCD screen is faulty and needs to be replace.

If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the replacement of the part.

Try taking out battery and plug in power. If it works, battery is faulty.
If not, try taking out your hard disk plug in power, if it works, hard disk is faulty.Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

Your Graphics Adapter may be bad. You didn't post the results of the screen testing in another laptop? Did the screen work? Has the laptop been overheating due to dust build up in the fan, vents, heatsink? Has the Thermal Paste degraded/overheating causing a failure of the Graphics Adapter? When you boot does the HDD blink? Sound? Fan spins? Just no monitor? Any damage? drop? Possible loose connection of the Graphics?

I turned on my labtop after repalcing the power inverter and the screen is still dark

Hi brylindo.
Try hooking your laptop to an external monitor...if the picture comes on then it is an lcd screen problem...if it doesn't come on then re-down load your drivers and see if that solves the problem...if it still doesn't work then you may have a problem with the laptop electronics.

My Toshiba Satellite P105-S6147 PC Notebook - has two problems - The screen has thin colored lines running vertically in about 4 places on the monitor and a 3 inch wide "ghost" band on the right...

Sounds like your display panel needs to be replaced. As far as your speakers they sound to have gone bad if it plays sound externally but not on the onboard ones.

Toshiba Satellite P105-S9722. monitor will not

Hi,
The problem is the inverter cable or the inverter itself.

If you have any warranty left on the laptop then i recommend you take advantage of that and send it in for repair, or you can deal with this 2 ways.
Fix the problem yourself.
Remove the screen bezel (plastic screen surround), this will reveal the whole screen. At the bottom of the screen you will see an elongated piece of circuit board with wires coming from either end covered by frosted plastic.
That is the inverter, check the connections on the inverter and power the laptop up to check the display, to remove it gently pull the plugs from each end and remove the screw from the middle and pull the board away.
Look at the inverter for a copper coil, if you re-solder the solder points around the coil you may find it works again as components that suffer from extreme heat the solder joints dry causing bad connections, re-floating the solder solves the problem in 90% of cases.

Take the laptop for repair.
In this case all you have to do is source a reputable PC repair store and take it in for them to fix. (it should be fairly inexpensive).

Good luck.

Toshiba Satellite P105 S6147 screen won't illuminate when on?

first try the fn+lcd/crt and see if it toggles on.if not then try hooking it to an external monitor. if you get the pic on the external monitor then you have a backlight or inverter problem.

Black screen on laptop

adjust the brightness on the laptop. press the FN button and the UP arrow. if that doesn't work try hooking up an EXTERNAL MONITOR. this will determine if the problem is with the LCD or the on board video card. if the Screen looks fine on the external monitor, you can try reseating the LCD cable, but remember you can DO that IF its accessible, but if its not, have the LCD replaced.

With the replacement screen did you replace the inverter board? Many laptop screens also have a very small fuse built into their power connecttions. Check this also.

Toshiba Satellite P105-S6124 Screen lines

Are these lines on the screen during the whole boot process? If so then the screen cpu and/or the video cpu has gone bad. Connect an external monitor. If the picture is clear, no lines, then the problem is the LCD screen. If the lines appear on the external monitor during the boot process then the mother board will need replacement.

Good Luck

Vertical lines on screen

Everything can be fixed.

Try hooking up your laptop to an external monitor. If you get lines then the problem is the video card.

If not, it's the lcd, usually it is anyways.

Just replace the lcd and your problem is gone.

Best of luck!
