following ways to change sms tones and alarm tones on phone android
1. create a folder named "notifications" (without quotes) 2. input file that will be used as ringtone notifications to the folder "notifications" 3. now you can change sms notification with your favorite song or other ringtone
Thank you for using FixYa,
You can't change the messaging tone to a song from your music playlist, these options for choosing your own music as ringtones are restricted to an alarm tone, phone ringtone and caller ringtone (caller ringtone is when specific people calls you, a certain ringtone would appear for that caller to differentiate between callers)
However, you can change your message ringtone to certain ringtones for your Galaxy S phone by going through the following steps:
(P.S I am assuming that you are using the stock Samsung SMS application)
Go to your stock Samsung SMS app (it's named as 'Messaging')
Press the softkey 'menu' button
Go to settings, scroll down and from there you can see the option 'select ringtone'
Hi, i just got myself one of these phones recently and i'm still getting used to hit
Here is how you change your SMS ringtone
Go to PROFILES
You will then see a list starting with Blackberry Messenger Alert and Blackberry Messenger New Message etc etc
Scroll down to SMS
Then you will see all the options you can change
Scroll down to the Ring Tone and highlight the name of the tone
Now you can select from any tone that you have put on the phone or any pre-loaded tone
If you want a pre-loaded tone they are all on this page
If you want one of your own loaded tone select browse
You will then have a choice of two...select Media cards where your own ringtones should be
Press touchpad and you can select any tone from there
Once selected it will bring you back to another screen which you then need to press the back button(right of the touchpad)
Then all you have to do is SAVE
go to your main menu, click options, then click profiles(ring tones), then click which profile you would like to change (ex. loud, vibrate), once it has "(active)" next to it, click on it. then you can click on phone, SMS text and so on. then you just pick the ringtone
Go to PROFILES.
Select (ie) NORMAL.
Scroll to SMS TEXT and depress the pearl ball.
Select OUT OF HOLSTER and set to TONE.
Select RING TONE and select the tone you want.
Select VOLUME and set to your preference.
You might want to do the same for IN HOLSTER. Good Luck! ~ :)
You should be able to change the ring tone and text message alert when you are editing the person's contact info.
If there is not option for that, then you may have your contacts being saved to your sim card. Change it to your phone, when you do that a lot more options appear when adding/editing contacts.
Hope this helps!
