Won't turn on, stays on standby (red light on receiver), won't reset, display light stays solid red when receiver is on and flashes red when receiver is turned off. I have everything the manual says to do (unplugged for 5 minutes, reset, etc) and even spoken with the electronics store techs from where we bought the TV (a specialty store with knowledgeable techs not just a big "best buy" type of place) who told me they had no other suggestions. HELP!

The red light can be attributed to a faulty power supply.  This is normally seen after there is a power surge, thus damaging the power supply.  I even read people having the issue but is intermittent.  If it is still within warranty have it replaced, this should not happen.

For the LC-30HV4U, I would double check the System Cable that links the Receiver to the Display.
With the Receiver ON, press the CLEAR button on the front of the box.
I'm sure you might have tried it. But, I just want to be sure.

The only thing I believe that with your TV is the power supply for the display when bad. It's starting to be a common problem with flat panel TVs. The only way to be sure is to take it to the TV repair shop to have the display power supply looked at.
Another possibility would be a bad System Cable. No communication between the box and the display.

Here's where I get parts for TVs so you can get an idea of how much it cost to replace the part itself. http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=lc-30hv4u

Here's the thing that you need to do:

1. Unplug the TV for one hour or more is you have not already. This power reset will at times correct the problem.

Parts that you need to check:

1. Inverter board
2. Supply board

The problem that you have is common for LCD TVs. Usually, defective inverter board and/or power supply board is the cause of the problem.

If you have electronics experience and TV test equipment, check first these two boards and replace it if found defective.

Here, I provided you the link where you can see the picture of an inverter board:

Good luck and have a great day!

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

SR4600 standby light on, what is the steps to reset. Red light not flashing but stays solid when powered on

On the SR6004 the factory reset is accomplished by holding the Surround Mode + Clear buttons for 3 seconds. You may need to check the last page of the troubleshooting section in your manual if your model is different.

No power output or display.green standby light flashes.

Sounds like either a blown mainpower fuse or the thermal fuse for the power transformer. If the protect circuit was kicking in, the display would light up, but then turn off with a red blinking light. the green light with no display means the transformer is not getting power.

Continuous blinks of standby light indicates a fault in the IIC data bus. The main board is likely to be faulty. If you wish to know more Check this link.

Won't power on

Sounds like a Zenith or LG TV. It is most probably the Y board, when you hear the clicking sound is usually that. I am sharing this with you because it happened to me with a Zenith (POS). The red light (on my TV) is in the bottom right corner. In my case it was the Y Board. Best of luck

Check the speaker wires for shorts, if okay! suspect the audio output ic's, the protection circuit won't come out of standby because there is a short.

Is the red light flashing at first?
The unit may be going into protect mode. Lets hope it has done the job and the receiver has protected itself from failure.
Protect mode can result from speaker wires touching each other or the Amps2_bing.gif metal case. Check that first.
It can also be caused by unstable ohm loads if too many speakers2_bing.gif are connected to any of the outputs especially zone 2.
If you can remove all speaker wires and turn the unit back on. If it stays on, turn the volume down on the main zone and zone 2 if connected. Then reconnect speaker wires.

Standby light stays red and will not turn unit on.

Try to reset the macroprocessor. Unplug the unit from AC, hold both buttons SPEAKER A and SPEAKER B and plug the cord in outlet. After display flashes several times release the buttons. No result? - repair shop.
