Question about Broadcom BCM94306MP - IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless Internal Mini-PCI Card (BCM94306MPWIRELESS)

Wifi adapter is gone!!!

I bought a new laptop (Broadcom 802.11 b/g) and it was working fine until just recently. I was restarting my system, and when the sreen came up the only network connection available was the hardwire NIC. I searched through the device manager to see if I accidentally disabled it and there was no adapter there. If you can help me I would love you forever.

I have already tried that, sorry for not mentioning that earlier. The switch constantly reads off, no matter what position it is in. I am not sure if the card is good or not. Hoping that someone else has had a similar problem. Thanks again though.

Broadcom wireless adapter works when it wants to ( does not even show up in the device manager)- does not detect it. Even upgraded the hp driver that suppose to fix this problem but it does not. HELP!!!!!!.

I have the same exact problem, started earlier in October, seemingly after I installed Microsoft patches (worked when I installed the patches, rebooted, and it was GONE!) I have since, reseated the internal card, worked with HP tech support, all for not......It does occasionally work....out of the blue, it will work.....maddening.

I don't find that it is a hardware issue. Mine has the problem when it goes to sleep and comes back the wireless drivers are not able to load because of something with Vista... Still haven't figured it out yet, I reloaded the drivers several times, and that doesn't work. It does work when I do a full system restore, but then stops shortly after (maybe because of vista updates or something) Right now it works when I reboot my computer several times and don't turn it off again.... :-/

If you have an HP or Compaq, go to HP's website, and put in your model number, there is a free repair that they will do (motherboard, Heat dissipater, etc) I sent mine in 4 times, had 2 different motherboards put in it.

I have a hp pavilion dv6000 and i have it out of warranty when it refused to work, i found that the fan in the hps/compaqs if blocked still cant flow the hot air screwing up pcbs and connections leading to components (their is my theory)
best bet is to get an external plug and play adapter and duck tape it to your laptop(or desktop)!!!lol

According to tech support in my area you need to send it back to the maker of the laptop ( i hear that HP laptops have this problem all the time)

I have found the main problem!!!!!
Broadcoms functions don't work well with windows Vista!!!!
Many of the forums i have looked on have said this exact same thing. you need to mess with your computer's settings in a deep level in order to fix it. I am not so good with the computer, but all of the forums have various solutions for these problems. However, if you're computer illiterate like me, you won't be able to make heads nor tails of it. I suggest you go to an expert who can explain these things to you.

I have been looking on all of the forums and chat groups for information and i have found a solution. Sometimes companies ship people faulty cards that dont work after certain periods of time. these periods are relatively short and the companies make a small profit off of the repairs, most likely because some of the people accidently void their warrenty, the only solution i have found is to buy an external wireless card or get a new card installed into your laptop.

I have the exact same problem. I did manage to catch it when the wireless was working. It appears that there is something that disables the wireless completely, i don't know how to fix it or how it started, but when i checked the device manager it said that the wireless was disabled. I tried to enable it but that failed. I am searching for a solution for this problem as we speak. I hope to get back to you with a true solution. My theory is that it is either a hardware problem, meaning broadcom shipped us some faulty equipment, or there is a virus or a program conflict with the system.

Many laptops have an external switch that enables the wireless device. Check your manual to see if you have such a switch. My roommate turns hers off accidentally all the time.

Broadcom Base Code PXE-2.1 v1.1.0 is showing uP on my computer and i dont know how to reset the hardrive. Help!

Broadcom is for networking, WIFI, etc. Has nothing to do with hard drive. Most likely you are using multiple network adapters and could have created a conflict. If on WIFI, try disabling the 10/100 broadcom network adapter. If it's not hurting anything, don't do anything...be happy it works.

Wifi is not working while iam using in windows XP operating system

Hi Sivakumar133,

Some reasons why wifi stops working is due to corrupted driver or defective WLAN card. There are some ways on how to diagnose this problem, just reinstall the driver and configure it again with the wireless access point. You can download the WLAN driver for this particular system by visiting this link. You will notice that on the Networking Wireless LAN section it has 2 types of WLAN card, Broadcom and Intel. Just try to install the Broadcom driver because this is compatible with XP. If you're not sure what is the model of your WLAN just check it under device manager and look for Network adapter. After downloading, install the .exe file then restart the system. You can now configure again the computer to your router.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

When i started my laptop the adapter is not showing in device list, when i deleted all network devices from the list and restart the laptop and searches thru system bios setup then this will work for one...

Donot use an extension cable or a USB hub. Connect the wireless adapter directly to the computer. Try with different USB ports on the computer. Try updating the latest driver. Check it with a different computer so that we can isolate if it is the issue with the computer.
