Re: Fuzzy Pages

In your troubleshootine menu, I think it is, on the screen, scroll until you find fix imaging problems, or something like that.
There is one for removing streaks and the other for removing smudges.
I would suggest running both and that should resolve your issue.
I doubt your maintence kit is bad, but I would pull it out and check to see if it is extremelty dirty.
Try those two procedures first.
There will be instructions on your User Guide CD on how to run those.

Hi I need to get the ip address from a xerox phaser 8550. unfortunately i cannot read the control panel display. Is there a way to get the ip address without being able to use the control panel?

Your printer needs to have the default menu item selected. It would be "Walk-Up Features". Restarting the printer and waiting for it to be ready would be the best way to be there, but you should be able to hit the back button a few times and up a few times to get to the first menu item.
Anyway, from the default menu item, press down once (highlights Information). Then OK (enters Information menu). Then down twice (highlights Information Pages). Then OK (enters Information Pages). Then OK again to print the Configuration Page.
Also, if your printer has never had its control panel display replaced, you can get a free one from Xerox, even out of warranty. Just call 877-571-7765 with the serial number of your printer.

Xerox Phaser 8550 drum issue?

The life of the drum is unlimited, it is just a solid aluminum drum.
The usual suspect when the drum is not cleaning is the maintenance kit. It was not stored on end was it ? If so the lubricant would have run to one end and not clean correctly.
The transfix roller could be failing, although that is not many pages on the printer.
You are using OEM ink and not third party? If so try new ink.
The last thing you could have is a bad wiper blade not cleaning between pages.
Drum heating is very unlikely. If it was not running hot enough, there are enough sensors in the machine that one would shut off if it were not heating properly.

Phaser 8500 on power up it prints a startup and 89 pages of junk

You cannot turn off the start up page on this machine. The special character pages are called a post script error. You could install a PCL driver for the machine or try changing some settings in the Driver to "RAW". Leaking black ink on printed pages

Hi, please attempt to run a numerous blank paper through the printer. This will dry or clean any ink found on the rollers.
Continue to run blank pages through the printer until no more ink is found on the paper, then attempt printing. If ink stains or streaks are still present, the printer may need service.

Xerox 8550/DN Printing with usb problem.

I will offer some thoughts.
But thats weird .
Have you tried a new driver? Yeah I know, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me if the image is fuzzy, but since it will print a internal pattern clear and not a print sent from the computer, the driver may be the issue. I stress MAY be the issue.
What I suspect more is the drum encoder. When I hear about that machine bluring, that is the most likely cause. It picks up silicon lubricant from the maintenance kit and normally causes blurrs.
It is on the right side of the machine ( viewed from the front), track it from the drum shaft. It has a clear plastic cover over it, but it needs to be cleaned with alcohol to disipate the silicon lubricant from it.
No no not drinking alcohol, although that can make prints blurry LOL.. Hope you have a sense of humor. To many people today don't....................
