    Howdy,

What make & model # router is it? What computer is it? Do you run a firewall? If so what? Antivir? If so what? Have you used this NIC card in the past? Are you certain that the ethernet (NIC) card is good? Have you tried another ethernet cable? Are you sure the router is powered up? Did you follow ALL of the sequence steps correctly? For example, Linksys wants you to power up and connect things in acertain order. Sorry for all the questions but you see more info will be helpful. I will watch. Good Luck.

Your ethernet adapter might be disabled. Go to Control Panel > Network Connections and look for Local Area Connection. Right-click it and choose Enable. Or go to Device Manager and Enable it there. If that didn't help, try to use a different Ethernet cable.

Motorola 1c743 wireless adapter reset

You modem needs to be powered on, linked to your cable or phone connection, and then linked to your router with an Ethernet cord. You also need a base computer (connected to the router with Ethernet as well) to adjust your router settings, like password and router name, and assure that you are communicating with the Internet.

Install your wireless adapter software to your laptop or computer that will be using the Internet wirelessly. You will be prompted at some point during the installation to plug in the adapter. (If prompted, restart your computer.)

Plug the adapter into your computer or laptop. Some adapters come as USB-compatible (Universal Serial Bus) plug-and-play devices, and others are PCMIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) cards that go into a special wide slot in laptops.

Go to your computer control panel and click on Network Connections when the software download is complete (if the control panel does not load automatically). Your new adapter should be now be listed. Select the icon and look at the description to make sure that it is connected. If not, right-click the adapter icon and click Enable.

Double-click the adapter to search for a wireless connection. Refresh the list of connections available until you find the name of your router. Enter any passwords that you set up for your wireless router and then connect to the Internet.

I just purchased the D-Link wireless router. Connected everything ran the CD and I'm not connected for some reason? I may have connected something wrong, but I was following all the instructions...my error...

first of all for using a router you need not install any cd...

try connecting your laptop to any one of the wired (lan) ports of router using an ethernet cable and check whether you are able to access or not...

if you are able to access then search for the wireless networks in range...

you will see linksys network... try connecting to it and access wireless internet...

if you are not able to access internet even through ethernet cable then you need to configure your router first...

to get an idea of how to configure your router have a look at this link...

I upgraded to windows 7 ultimate and im trying to get my wireless internet to work att sent out a disk and a usb router driver from netopia but when i install the disk it keeps giving me an error codes...

Hi Ken,
That message means that the user account that you're logged in as doesn't have Administrator level privledges, and therefore cannot install new drivers and software. If you right-click on the program or disk, it may give you an option to Run As Administrator. This will elevate your installation to an Administrator level.

You could get another ethernet card from ebay for less than $10. Although, honestly, I don't think the port could have oxidized in 5 years. What is the error message(s)?

Trying ti install my dsl-2640b wireless g adsl2+modem router

If you have plugged the ethernet cable directly into the motherboard, make sure the onboard lan is enabled in the bios, if you have plugged into a pci nic adapter you will have to install a driver for it, winxp should have the driver for your adapter other than that I cannot help any further.

best of luck

Not being able to connect to Internet still

  1. Check the wireless adapter of your laptop. To do that, go to control panel then go click on System then go to Device manager.
  2. On Device Manager window, look for Network adapter. Check all the Network adapters installed to your laptop.
  3. Look for the wireless adapter installed in your laptop. Once you found it, right click on it and then click properties.
  4. Under the general tab, look for Device status.
  5. Make sure that the wi-fi button of your laptop is enabled.
Hope this helps!

D-Link Ethernet Broadband Router

What I would do for the computers that can't get internet connection. Basically just connect to it wirelessly with a wireless adapter that I talked below,

1.I would go buy some "USB" wireless adapters you can get them for $15-25.00 USD
Linksys carriers ones that I use, heres a link to what it looks like.
http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115416827517&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=2751739789B16

that is the one I use for my Desktop.

Once you get those setup and install the drivers with the disk that come with the wireless adapter you just connect to the router wirelessly.

No Internet With New Router, Computer, or Adapter

This document is relevant if you had an Internet connection, but lost it when: * Adding a router to your network, or * Using a different Ethernet adapter card or computer than the one your ISP used during installation. Use ISP Configuration to see whether you need to "spoof a MAC address" to connect to your ISP. If so, follow the instructions in this document. If the Ethernet card that was used during ISP installation is not available, you may need to register the new Ethernet card's MAC address with your ISP for the following to work. MAC address stands for Media Access Control address (not "Macintosh computer"!), a unique number built into modems, routers and other network hardware. It ensures that one piece of equipment is not mistaken for another one. Some ISPs validate your connection by checking the MAC address of the Ethernet adapter in computer that was registered during ISP installation. If you add a router or change computer or Ethernet adapter, these ISPs will drop your Internet connection, because they find the MAC address of the newly added router or adapter, instead of the one they expect. To fix this, change the router to report the Ethernet adapter's MAC, instead of its own. This is called "spoofing the MAC address". To find a PC's or Macintosh's MAC address, see How to Find an Adapter's MAC address : http://www.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=252225&thid=102075. To Spoof a MAC Address 1. Connect the computer that your ISP's installers used to establish Internet connection to the router. If you are unsure which computer was used, call your ISP, and ask what MAC address was registered. Then, using the instructions in the box below find the computer whose MAC address matches their records. 2. Disconnect other computers from the router. (If you do not want to disconnect other computers, you need to know the adapter's MAC address, as described in the box below. Then, in step 6, type Use This MAC Address, entering the adapter's address.) 3. In an Internet browser type the address 192.168.0.1. 4. Type admin for the username, password for the password, and click OK. 5. Go to the Basic Settings > Router Mac Address. 6. Select Use Computer MAC Address. 7. Click Apply. This automatically gives the router the computer's MAC address. 8. Click Test to make sure you are connected. If you are not connected, contact your ISP.
