We have a GMC Envoy which also does not allow us to play the sound from the dvd player through the car's speakers. Although we purchased the vehicle new with the dvd player already installed, it was installed by the dealer, making it after-market. I assume those that were installed in the factory work differently. Maybe this is the case with your's as well. Good luck!!

are you using and after market harness to go from your bronco to the harness to the new radio. if so make sure all the colors are matched up (e.i. purple to purple, purple/black to purple/black). did the speakers work before the aftermarket unit. Also check the wiring at the oem speakers

be careful guessing the wires you can buy a wire harness for this SUV and all wires are colour coded to your after market radio or DVD in-dash system all you do is match the colours........for your VHS player there should be two output RCA on the VCR unit run the RCA wires to your new in-dash unit plug it into the aux input of your new unit that will solve the whine (some gm models high-end mainly have security features built in to the factory radios this can cause airbags to deploy if wires get crossed wrong) buy a wire harness for $17.00 to avoid any costly problems
hope this helped
