Question about Goodman GMS90703BXA Heater

1 Answer

Goodman furnace I am not sure. There is no model number or brand name. I assume its goodman because of the condensing coil. They were installed at the same time. Its a 3 ton unit. The control board has the red light flashing 3 times and I do not have the code diagnostics explanation. Its a gas furnace. We turn on the thermastat and set it high enough to come on but it does nothing. Not a thing. The a/c works just fine. Can you help. I have a goodman furnace and I can't get heat or ac to come on. The 3amp fuse blew on the circuit board, I replaced room thermostat, I can keep blower working by disconecting wire going into where the burners are. But if I re-connect wire it blows the 3amp fuse. The red cicuit board light blinks 4 times, Its 90 degrees right now can anyone help fast?

Double check your wiring. R terminal on the furnace will provide 24 volts to the t-stat. W terminal in the t-stat will send 24 volts back to the furnace W terminal to turn on the heat. G terminal in the t-stat will send power to the G terminal in the furnace when the t-stat is switched to fan on. Y terminal in the t-stat will send power to the Y terminal in the furnace which in turn will send 24 volts to the A/C outside. The C terminal in the furnace should be connected to the c terminal in the A/C outside as well as to the T-stat. Check the fuse again

Goodman furnace model#GCH90904CXAB the red light

This model is equiped with a diagnostic error control. Take off the front panels and look for a wiring diagram pasted on the reverse side of the panels. On this diagram there will be a chart telling you what 4 blinks represent and where to start looking for the issue. I suspect the air filter may be dirty or the pressure switch may be bad, however make sure the condensate hoses are free of any debris. Good luck to you!

Water leaking out bottom of Goodman propanefurnace drain tubes are clear. draining out under the actual furnace

Check the top of the gas flue. Make sure the cap is on it. If not it will allow rain to get inside. If this is only a furnace, this is the only thing it could be. Nothing produces water in a furnace. If it has an A/C coil attached. The condensation drain might be stopped up allowing it to leak.

Please tell me the date of manufacture for Goodman CAP3636C6AA

You will need to post the serial number. The model number does tell me that you have a painted case, three ton coil with a fixed metering device installed, and it fits a 21" furnace or air handler. The first four numbers of the serial number will give the manufacturing date.

I have a goodman 2 ton condeser model number CK24-18 and I was wondering if it would be could use a 10 SEER ADP UNCASED COIL R-22 2 TON?

Yes. The condenser is 1.5 ton and the larger coil will allow for better dehumidification but do not go any larger. Make sure when installed that bioth super heat and subcool are measured to insure proper charge and that system is working at peak performance.

No model number...

If this is a split system, look on the side of the furnace, no luck? remove the front panel. look for a little plate or sticker label inside there somewhere. If you are in California, there is a Goodman (A.K.A.) Janitrol, in Ontario CA. They may be able to help. (sorry don't remember phone #)

Goodman furnace I think

Ok, a flashing 3 on a Goodman control board usually means that the pressure switch is tripping. A few things will cause this. One being a restriction in the exhaust or combustion air inlet. The second could indicate a faulty inducer blower motor and the third would be a blocked or bad pressure switch.

With the front cover off and door switch taped down, Have a helper turn the thermostat up to 75. You will be watching the circuit board for flashing lights and in a few seconds the inducer motor (the small fan hooked to the exhaust) will start. If this does not happen, we either have a bad circuit board or blower motor. If the fan starts rotating, inspect the hoses going to the small circular pressure switch. Sometimes they may get either water or debris in the hose and not allow the switch to sense pressure. If the hoses look OK, the igniter will glow an orange color and you will see this if you look thru the small viewing port. IF no glow, you could have a bad pressure switch, a bad ignition relay (found on the circuit board) or a bad igniter. OK so if the igniter glows, a few seconds later the gas valve should click open and send gas to the burners. The orange will turn to blue. If this does not happen, you have either a bad gas valve or bad circuit board. Finally if you get flame but it will not stay lit more than a few seconds, you may have a restriction in the burner gas train, a bad gas valve, a dirty or bad flame sensor or not enough gas pressure.

Knowing the sequence of operation will give you the needed information to talk with a service technician and cut down on diagnostic costs.

Try looking on the back of the furnace access panel for both model number and a diagnostic schematic. This will confirm what the flashing 3 code means for your unit.

Sorry, without knowing the model number, this is the best I can do for you. Good Luck!
