buttons and lights The HP Deskjet printer buttons let you turn the printer on and off, cancel a print job, or resume printing. The lights give you visual cues about the state of the printer

The Power button turns the printer on and off. It takes approximately five seconds for the printer to turn on after you press the Power button. The green light above the Power button flashes when printing is in progress. Caution! Always use the Power button on the front of the printer to turn the printer on and off. Using a power strip, surge protector, or a wallmounted switch to turn the printer on and off may cause premature printer failure

New cartridge prints very light

It is a possible drum issue, but before you get a new one remove the toner and drum and look up above where the drum sits inside. Use a dry soft cloth to wipe the narrow window that's above and try printing again. Toner save being turned on in printer properties will make lighter prints as well.

My hp 5780 printer only prints in black and white

Please check if your Colour Ink Cartridge is not emply. If their's ink in the cartridge then try to service your printer through the Print Preferences. Your Colour Cartridge Nozzels could have been blocked thats why your printer is unable to print in Colour.

In case if both the above doesn't work then check in the Print Preferences that you should not have saved the option of PRINT DOCUMENT IN BLACK ONLY.

Hope the above will help you.

Printer doesn't print even with new ink cartridges.

turn the printer i turned on and Press the cleaning button ,. Cleaning takes about two minutes, the printer makes some noise when it finishes you run a nozzle check for print quality and reset the cleaning cycle.
load paper . go to the printer menu as follows: click Control Panel, and then double-click Printers. Select the Epson printer if have more than one printer is installed. Click File, click Properties, click the Utility tab, then click the Nozzle Check icon.
The printer will print a Nozzle Check pattern in black, and in cyan, magenta, and yellow. Each staggered horizontal and straight vertical line should be complete, with no gaps in the dot pattern. If any dots are missing, clean the head again.

If your software is different, and does not have these options, you can do it this way:

1. Same as above.

2. Same as above.

Turn off printer and computer. Disconnect interface cable from printer. Load paper. Hold down the load/eject button and press the power button to turn on the printer. Release both buttons.

3 Same as above.

4 Turn off printer and reconnect the interface

Hp 1200 business inkjet help

I have a solution that is very similar to that printed above.
I have tested it on five installations on the computers on my home network and an HP Business Inkjet 1100, and the PCs running Win XP SP3.
Step 1) If you are setting up the printer from the HP CD, decline the question where it asks if you want to print a test page, (this will avaoid the first print job before re-setting the dates).
Step 2) Reset your clock back to a year prior to the year when your cartidge expired.
Step 3) Print a test page, or two. Or a few pages from any application.
Step 4) Reset your clock back to the current year.
The printer now prints fine. Since I performed the sequence above I have been printing with the "expired" cartridges for a few weeks. I have printed on about 15 occasions over the past few weeks, amounting to about 50 pages. No problems so far. I don't know how long this solution lasts or whether I will have to go through it again.
I have gone through a few different "solutions", including a Registry hack that didn't work, but this simple solution above has worked every time on five different installations.
I did not need to turn the printer on/off, and did not need to re-boot the computers.
However, if I sent a print job to the printer before performing the sequence described above, and the printer gave an "expired cartridges" error, then I would need to turn the printer on/off to clear the error, and flush the print queue.

Color printing

Hi I take it that you have removed the blue tape that is over the cartridge when you install it? If you have are they original or refills if refills change for an original.

If you have done the above then remove the ink cartridge and with soft cloth wipe clean the gold contacts on the cartridge and also on the carriage.

When you have done the above try printing again if still not printing then check the following.
  • Goto Start Printers and Faxes
  • Right hand click on the printer Icon
  • Select "Printing Preferences"
  • Make sure that you are set to color
  • Close window the Right hand click on Icon again
  • Select Properties
  • Click on Print test page
  • This should not print in color if color was selected in printing preferences.
I do hope this works for you
Thanks J
