1982 Honda GL 1100 Gold Wing try to start and solenoid clicks

I put a new battery and a new solenoid on my bike and cleaned all connections. The problem to start with was the bike didn't seem to have the power to start even with a jump. I put in a new battery and it started and ran a dozen times. The solenoid just started clicking even with a jump. I put in a new solenoid and still it will only give me one click the starter won't engage.

SOURCE: 95 Honda Nighthawk 750 will not start--only clicks, even with new battery

If you are hearing a click and the battery and cdi box are good, than it is most likely you solenoid. Try tapping on the solenoid while try to start it. You can also try to run battery cables straight to solenoid to make sure it is not the starter swtich. You can also use a screwdriver and jump it across solenoid terminals and see if it turns over that way.

Double check all cables are clean and in perfect metal to metal contact.

SOURCE: 1980 honda gl 1100 starter tries to engage but

starter is damaged a thing called a throw out gear or somtimes a solenoid pushes a small moving gear into mesh with a larger ring gear spinning the motor over. sometimes just removing the starter cleaning and lubricating it will solve the problem other times it needs to be replaced or rebuilt but you should do it soon fixing a starter is way easier and cheaper than fixing a damaged ring gear and continuing to use the compromized starter WILL damage the ring gear or a very least you're riding a bike that will leave you stranded some where ...after it told you several time it wasn't feeling well :-) starter come off usaly with two bolts CAUTION ...please unhook the battery before attempting this.. no shock hazzard but lots of amps.... burn, melt, cook expensive parts

need to check for voltage at the starter. if no volt meter is available, have someone hold the key in the crank position while you tap the starter with small hammer. if it breaks loose, replace the starter. happy holidays

SOURCE: starter clicking noise, bike won't start

start relay should be checked, if cables are loose or corroded they do not deliver enough power.if jumping the start relay will engage the starter replace the relay.

82 gl 1100 push the start button it only clicks. I can arc the solenoid and it starts. Do I replace the start button or the solenoid?

appears as start button, but could be a wiring, open, between the two? electrical corrosion is always a question on electrical things with age.

Solenoid clunks bike does not start

Make a connection between the positive battery cable and the starter cable located on the solenoid. This will put power directly to the starter. If the starter turns the motor over then the contacts inside the solenoid are burnt, replace the solenoid. If when jumping the solenoid the starter does not turn over , remove the starter and check to see if the brushes are worn out. If the brushes are worn replace them. If the starter is worn out replace it no other parts are available to fix it.

1981 honda goldwing wont start

while trying to start an engine, and only the solenoid clicks, there are these 3 things- no juice from the battery, starter corroded contacts(the big cables) or starter is shot. so first make sure the battery is charged, next make sure the cable mounts from battery to starter are clean(no rust), if that is all good and doesnt start , remove starter and have it tested.
