Question about Samsung HCL473W 47" Rear Projection Television
After fixing the convergance problem (replacing the STK's & the pico's) still having problems, Perfect focus does not work, blue & green ghosting (looks like they are out of focus). Even after going into Convergance Mode (MUTE-1-8-3) the lines were way off, used a jig to get it all back in order then saved the new info. But the fix is not holding, the lines are still moving and Perfect Focus still not working. Then went into Service Mode (MUTE-1-8-2-PWD) looked at all the Factory settings, they were off.
This TV was serviced about 4 years ago by a Service Tech and he replaced the SUB board. I did not own this tv at the time of repair.
Odds are real good that the cooling fluid in the green and blue picture tube assemblies has become contaminated. You can tell by looking down into the lenses with a flash light. Funny thing is the red never gets contaminated because whatever organism is causing the problem can't survive in red light. BTW this may still not solve all of your convergence problems but when the colors are so badly diffused the convergence sensors for flash focus can't lock onto the beam landing.
