Your agitator has a set of 4 dogs that propel the upper portion of the agitator. Over time the face on those dogs gets smooth and will not engage the inner walls of the upper agitator. The part number is 80040. Not very hard to repair. Get the top off and the seal so that you can access the nut holding the agitator in. Remove that nut and the agitator can be removed. Sit the agitator on the floor and hold it down with your feet. Grab the upper portion and snatch it away from the lower portion. Replace those dogs.

Why does the agitator seem to slip when washing?

That is due to overloading most likely. they do have a clutch that will slip to prevent the motor from burning up. If you add too many items, it will load down the agitator. this is usually normal operation. If you are sure that it is slipping more than normal, the clutch mechanism might be failing.

Please check if the drive belt to the main motor to the agitator is slipping or is loose. It is also possible that the agitator is jammed and so could have friction so that the belt slips.

The agitator has under the cap what are called agitator dogs. They wear out causing agitator to slip. They sell a kit at cost $10. Easy to replace comes with instructions.

Wont spin cycle at full speed

Burning smell is a slipping belt. These are tricky to get apart and diagnose but find the reason the belt is slipping and replacing it will solve your problem. Could be clutch, bearing or gearcase related.

Agitator is slipping

I have a different model, but my agitator came off with brute force. I used 2 allen wrenches in the slots on the side of the agitator to get leverage and then yanked until it came off. The problem is your air bell coupler.
