Question about Canon DC210 DVD Camcorder

1 Answer

Unintentional initilizing! I had some very important images on my rewritable disc, And without realising, I initilized the disc whilst trying to work out why "finalize" didnt show up, they all got deleted. I was wondering if there was any software available, or something like that! I do know that there probably isnt, but its worth a try, they really are really really important! xx

Re: Unintentional initilizing!

They may not be gone.
I was told to go to a video production store, like that do weddings and see if they can retrieve your info from the disc.
It will cost you, and don't think that Canon or your disc manufacture will reinburst you. They won't. I tried.
Because we thought we lost everything too!
I think there is a defect in the camera itself or the manual is not telling you everything you need to know.

How can I edit my video disc

I don't know if your camcorder have features to edit videos in camcorder itself, while some camcorders can. If it dosen't, you need to edit DVD videos on computer with an editor such as ArcSoft ShowBiz. And you need to check your DVD disc style at first. Some discs support rewriting so you can shoot a video, edit it, delete it, shoot a new one all on one disc. Some don't, once you finalize it, nothing can be modifyed. For those rewritable discs, ShowBiz is really a good choice, which enables you to edit disc frames, customize buttons, layers, etc. It even support blu-ray discs editing and burning.

I get error when initilize sd 4GB. "card error"

Try connecting the SD card to your computer and formatting it that way.
If this does not work, then the SD card may have failed.
Check the contacts on the SD card to make sure there is no debris on them.

I accidently reformated a DVD-RW, can i get the information back?

It may still able to retrieve, depending on how many times it has been recorded over. There are some good disc recovery software utilities out there now that you can load on your computer an then get the image back from the disc. It's not a guarantee that you can get it all or even some of it. Regular formatting does remove the data but the image on the disc is harder to remove, that's why the bad guys usually get their computers and discs confiscated because no matter how many times they erase their hard drives or Rewrite over the discs they can get the original image back (evidence) now you and I and the rest of the public only have access to less powerful recovery software. try this site: there are others like it so search for ; DVD recovery software.

Sony dvd handycam finalize problem

If your discs are rewritable, you could try putting your discs in your computer. Try opening the folders and try to open all the files. Some of the files may be your videos. If it opens your video player and plays your videos, wait until it plays everything to make sure that all your data were recorded in the disc. Copy everything in your computer and remove your disc. Try playing it again and if it works, then it's already ok. When you are planning to use it again, make sure that you format everything in the disc.

How to view DVD rewritables

Had the same problem, You have to press the mode button down which changes it to play and brings up the frames in the viewer. Then select Func, it will then give you a menu screen that shows finalise. What the manual does not say is press down the mode button to get the camera in play mode, when you do the gree light for play comes on.
Hope this helps

Can the dc210 finalize dvd-R

Thanks making sure I was in play mode with the adapter plugged in worked. The trick was remembering what play mode was--that's where you can see the scenes on the playback screen, not the screen you see when you are looking to record something.
