Kenmore oven: glass dome for interior light removal

I am unable to remove the glass dome covering for my Kenmore oven light.  There does not appear to be any opening from the back (minus removing the entire back panel).  From the interior the dome does not pull or screw off.  All I need to do is change the burned out light bulb.   Any suggestions?  Thanks

Thanks, no one had answered. At least I felt better about cranking on it without the fear of breaking the dome.

I finally broke down and asked my husband to fix it...He did it with no problem. I must have loosened it for him. Thanks

Hopefully someone answered your question by now. If not, the glass bulb cover sticks sometimes, but it does turn counterclockwise. Be firm with it, let it know who's boss. Once you've removed it, you can replace the 40 watt appliance bulb. (The manual suggests you unplug the range or disconnect power for your safety). Good luck.

It does stick--quite a problem. i looked it up on this web site and turning the glass counterclockwise worked with some effort. for safety sake, use gloves.

I tapped mine *gently* with a rubber mallet, all around, mutiple times. Tap, tap, tap. Test. Tap, tap, tap. Test. Etc. Eventually it gave way.

(This is yet another example of manufacturers being dumb. For another 25 cents they could have installed a better fixture and avoided aggravating thousands of consumers. Future purchasers of Kenmore products -- beware!!!)

Mine was hopelessly stuck. I tried so hard that I twisted my back and had to go to the doctor. After giving up, I asked a man for help, and he couldn't get it to move either. It is ridiculous for it to be this hard! WD-40 sprayed at the base and soaking overnight finally did the job.

Unable to remove light cover inside oven

Hi,

I'm not familiar with that oven model, but as I have had a similar issue with my Neff oven light, I thought I would give you the benefit of what I had discovered. The light cover in my oven is a round, thick glass cover. The hand book has a graphic showing that the cover is simply twisted with one hand in an anti-clockwise direction as viewed straight onto the cover. No way! The first issue is that the lamp housing is right in a tight corner and getting sufficient grip on the cover is tricky. I put rubber gloves on to increase the grip and resorted to using two hands to exert as much force as I could manage, but it only moved a small amount. I think the movement was only the entire lamp housing moving in the oven wall, rather than any movement of the cover. I tried warming up the oven (not too hot) in the hope that the cover might release due to expansion, but no go. I then wondered if cooking grease / deposits and bonded the cover to the holder; although it appeared reasonable clear. This appears to have been the issue as I applied WD40 to the seam where the glass meets with the lamp housing and left it for a few minutes. It needed a second application, but eventually came free. On inspection, there was only a minor 'varnish' on the glass that appeared to have prevented the two parts from moving. Using WD40 weakened the bond eventually, but it also made the glass incredibly slippery, so gripping the glass cover after application is difficult. I used the rubber gloves and wiped the glass well to remove any residual WD40 prior to attempting to twist the glass cover off.

How do I remove cover to change interior light bulb ?

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

In order to answer your question effectively, you'll need to provide a model number for your range and confirm it is indeed a Thermador oven.

There are simply too many different styles to generalize on how to simply "remove cover to change light". In fact some Thermador lens covers are square glass covers which pull off, others are round "dome" shaped which twist off and yet others are held in place via a single metal clip or fastened in placed with a metal bracket and two screws.

I'll watch for your post and be glad to assist you in solving this problem in whatever manner I can.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Kenmore gas oven; range&broiler work, not bake cycle-bad ignitor?

Well there are other parts that control the igniter, but if you can remove the igniter and look for any cracks. Most are hard to find so you may need a magnifying glass.Any crack no matter how small will keep it from glowing. The gas will not flow until the photo senser has detected the igniter glowing for several seconds. You can get a parts breakdown at SearsPartsDirect.com.Well hope this helps.

No manual to Kenmore electric oven 8+ years old

if the glass bulb cover has a 'wire' across it that's the spring clip that holds it in place.pull clip down or aside to remove cover, unscrew bulb as you would any other.if it doesn't have aforementioned clip.try to rotate cover counterclockwise to disengage 'ears' from 'slots',similar to the the way a blender fits the base.look under cook-top,above oven door for the lock lever that must be pulled out [engaged] for self clean to work.

I own a Kenmore stove model #639539J2. The glass

yes. open the oven door to the first "click". it kind of stops about a quarter of the way open. most ovens you grab both sides of the oven door and pull up. some models have a couple of screws you have to take out before you can remove the oven door. then lay it down with the insie of the door facing up and take out all the screws holding the oven door together. some may be on the sides or the top and bottom of the door. when apart, clean first with easy off, then clean several times with windex till streaks are gone. assemble door in reverse and put back on stove.

How do I change the light bulb in the oven

You can replace the light bulb(s) in your range/oven, though you may need to remove a glass covering or dome to reach it. Most interior oven lights use a universal 40 watt appliance bulb.

CHANGE THE LIGHT IN MIELE OVEN

Had the same problem. Ended up removing interior oven panels (sides first then top on model H310B). This is easier than you might think. Could then get a good grip on the light's glass cover and it unscrewed easily.
