With 'busy' districts,ie lag, the servers think that you have quit becuase they are not receiving any information (data) from your side (client).

Online play is very choppy and I often get kicked off line.

Hello,
There are a number of things that can cause this, namely your internet speed.

Make sure you have high speed internet with at least 10mbps download and 1mbps upload for best results. Game play can also be affected by wireless. If you are connected to your router via wireless, try using a network cable instead. If your wireless signal quality varies a lot it can cause disruptions in your connection. If you have any P2P programs running such as emule, limewire, torrents, etc... Shut them down as they tend to sap your upload speed which in turn, affects your game. If your computer is not that fast and doesn't play the game without online mode very well, it could be worse online being you are now rendering more elements into the game. Lastly, EA Servers may be over loaded at peak hours which could also affect your game play.

Check your internet speed here http://www.speedtest.net and also your link quality here: http://www.pingtest.net

Make sure your ping is at least below 80ms and your link quality is A or C. Any less and you may have trouble playing some online games. And again, for the speed, it's good to have at least 10mbps download and 1mbps upload. My connection is 50mbps download and 3mbps upload with ping grade A and ping 3ms, so I have never had any problems myself with online games and real-time streaming J

Hope this helps!
Chris

My Gateway computer shuts down ramdomly. This

Listen for fans coming on, as this sounds like overheating issue. If fans kick in and then stay constant or dont work at all.
The link is for Notebook hardware control, this will monitor the temp among other things (only reference as a guide any software can give you an indication but not exact temp) Generally if a laptop hits 90c it will auto cutout to stop major hardware failure normal running temp (40-55c upwards depending on use) http://www.pbus-167.com/
If the machine is overheating it could be due to blocked vents, faulty heatsink, fans not working or incorrect fitting and thermal paste.
In all honesty if this is due to overheat problems, as the machine has been cutting out my strong advice would be to do all the above ESPECIALLY re-apply thermal paste (arctic silver5) to cpu, it takes about 100-200 hours of use to start to work 100%.
hope this helps, let me know if i can be of further help

Computer ramdomly shutting down

Hi there.
It sounds like the system is overheating.
Open the side panel and remove all the dust that you can see, a clean dry soft paintbrush should do the job, make sure you clean the CPU fan and heatsink (the metal block behind the CPU fan).
Once that's done the computer should stay on all the time but remember to clean the insides of the case periodically to prevent this problem form arising again.

Good luck and thanks for choosing FixYa!!

My computer shuts down in the middle of the game (Toontown)

Try to uninstall the program and reinstall it. Normally, this happens due to insufficient memory resources like video memory is insufficient and the system RAM.

Hey,

the laptop is overheating and shuts down to prevent hardware failure. Use canned air to blow dust out from the fans that may improve it a little.

While online playing a game the computer shut off and when turning it back on it said to insert a disk. I don't understand why. I was not playing a game with a disk. what other problems could I look for to...

Usually when you download and install a game from the internet onto your computer, they can come with unwanted viruses, malware, or other intruders. These can very much shut your computer off. Try scanning your computer with threatfire and norton. you can get a free trial free for both. Once these problems are found and fixed, you shouldn't have the problem.
