D link Router No Longer Lights Up- Is it Dead?

Hi All, So I have a Dlink wua 2340 router for a desktop. One day I could no longer get a connection to the internet and I was told it was an incompatibility issue with Vista, although I did not have connection problems before. So I uninstalled and reinstalled the dlink software 1.20- did not work; I uninstalled and reinstalled an update for dlink software 1.50. The computer recognized it as being compatible but states it could not connect due to "unable to locate router or access point" The router no longer lights up (which it used to do when connected). Is it correct to assume that this is the problem and that the router is dead and I just need to buy a new one OR is it savable. The computer still recognizes the router though when I remove it and reinsert it in the USB port. Please assist. Thanks.

Then try this first, this could help before you dump your router. You could try to hard reset the router to its factory settings. Slowly taking step, or reset the router three times. This will erase the present settings.

Then setup again the router in its basic configuration.

Hope this works.

I have a D-Link DIR-825 router and a D-link WUA-2340 adapter. The adapter is plugged into a windows xp desktop. My problem is that the adapter is only running at 54mbps when the box clearly says...

The D-Link WUA-2340 is an 802.11g adapter. This means that 54mbps is the fastest that it can run. It is backward compatible with the 802.11b standard which runs at 11mbps. However, it is not forward compatible to 802.11n. You need to get the DWA series from D-Link (I'm guessing you have a preference for D-Link). This should run your D-Link DIR-825 at 100mbps +.

2 things. You might be connected to the wireless but not to the network. Check the TCP/IP settings. Also check the security settings on the wireless connection

My d-link WUA-2340 is only running on 54mbps

What router are you using?
Most routers sold until recently have been 802.11b/g (54mbps) routers, it must be 802.11b/g/n to run at 108mbps.
The adapter will self adjust to the older standard if it cannot detect if the faster standard is available.

Can not connect to the internet thru a wireles D-link WUA 2340.

Hi Antonio, you need to make sure your routers wireless settings match the settings of the computers wireless adaptor. Both need to be exactly the same.

Dlink rangebooster usb wireless adapter problems

I have many D-Link router and printer server /wirless adapters in operation.

I love the product, but find periodically that the power cord/converter seems to not connect and the router/adapter goes dead. If I swap power cords, away it goes.

I have found that the plug end entering the adapter needs to be periodically cleaned (alcohol wipe works well & dried before reinsertion). I have tested all my power cord/converters when they don't seem to work and they all are functioning normally with proper voltage output. The connection is usually the issue.
