I'm not sure what you are asking. Are you saying your power supply went bad? What went blank--the display?
    Is the computer still on?

Surges usually just kill pc.. your pc motherboard or other equipment has been fried to be honest. Only thing to do is take it all apart and start putting it back together piece at a time and rebooting till you can find the bad part. Unless u want to spend some hefty cash on shop or equipment that tells you what is wrong.

Continous whine sound on APC Surge Protector 600

Hello Glen,

Yes, The batteries in UPS systems have a 2.5 to 3 year life span so your unit does need new batteries. The whine is usually caused by the charge circuit trying to push the charge to the damaged cells in the battery. You should be able to get replacement batteries from your local battery dealer, no need to order "special" UPS batteries. Open your UPS cover and remove the old battery and bring it to the dealer and they will match it to their stock.

Worked fine yesterday, today zilch !!

One computer I fixed had its internal power regulation confused. With the AC adapter plugged in, holding the power switch down for twelve seconds, then pressing it again, switched it back on. This sort of problem can come from a variety of causes, though. There is an internal power distribution chip which could have received a static electric shock or power surge and gotten cooked. The RAM could have gone bad. The socket where the adapter plugs into the computer could have been cracked loose. Check the power switch and then RAM first, and write more if that doesn't fix it.

Washer --

The interface fried, probably lightning causing a power surge, a new one @ $152, + service call. Getting the part is a problem. It's 14 months old.

Our last washer was purchased second hand, we used it for over 20 years and it was still working when we replaced it.

Won't turn on - lights appear for a second then nothing

Probably a poor power connection either where the AC pack goes in to the wall (probably powerbar!) or where the plug from the power pack goes into the unit. Wiggle the various connectors to see which one solves the problem. As a last resort you may have a faulty power pack (try ask a dealer or friend to test your system on their power pack).
