Every time I open Safari, I get a "Safari not responding" message, the internet connection is fine, the problem is with Safari, what can I Do? For several days I can't properly browse the net. I constantly get the message that my server is not responding. Some websites are opening, and others are not. I tried in Firefox and safari, both give the same message for certain websites. I use mac OSX 10.5.7. I have tried MacScan and reseting the browser too.

Re: Safari Not Responding
Hi there. The problem is the internet not the web browsers, and it depends what time of day your trying to connect to a certain site, this is because 99% of ISP's have taken on a fair usage policy which means at certain times of the day your connection speed is capped to the internet doesn't get clogged up. I use a Windows PC with a 50meg connection and i experience the same problems with certain sites. The only thing that i can suggest you do is update your java and flash (macromedia) software and see if that helps at all.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Safari fix after upgrading OS maverick or Yosemite
Safafi not responding after upgrade of OS? Follow the simple stemps below:
Click on the apple logo in the left corner of your mac
Close your safari
Open system preferences
Go to Location drop down menu from network page.
select edit locations
and change the location from automatic to any other option you may need to create a new one here select the + symbol and name it " temp delete me"
- the wireless network will be disconnected
ensure you are on you select wife from the left column or Ethernet if that is how you are connected (by cable)
Go to network
Goto Location again and select edit
Select the new network you just created (temp delete me) and select the - (delete symbol)
Select the automatic network again
Now select apply
- the wireless network will be restored again and you can now use safari.
this worked for me after upgrade to yosmite and it also worked on the upgrade to mavericks! I would of expected apple to of resolved this problem.
I hope this helps someone.
i did post pictures above but they are not showing on this form.
this happens from time to time the server you may be accessing is taking to long to respond (litterally) and there is a time out when safari gives up. try rebooting ipod or get closer to the connection i suggest installing opera or another browser i think they now have fire fox or chrome. much faster connection let me know if this helps love positive feedback! and comments lol
Go to System preferences then under internet and network in the left hand column click on + sign at bottom of the column then under slect the interface choose airport click on create and then click on turn airport on and then select your network name and if a password is asked for put in the password.
If airport does not show up it probably means that your mac does not have a wireless card in it.
