Transfering pictures = Impossible. Help?

Everytime I try to transfer pictures from my camera to the computer, the camera stays on for a few seconds, then turns off and the computer cannot detect it. It's frustrating because I've been trying for days and I still can't get the pictures through, any help?

Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

The best way is to format the card in the camera. In fact, this should be done everytime you finish transfering your pictures to a computer.

Hello. With your computer turned on try plugging in the cables with the camera turned off. After the connections are made turn the camera on. This usually works for my Kodaks. If that don't work right click" My Computer" and see if your camera shows up there under "devices with removable storage". If it does you can right click to open , view and move as you wish.

Transfering to PC

Windows:
Try going to MY COMPUTER, and see if the camera is listed there. If it is, then double-click it, and open the sub-folder containing pictures. Then drag and drop them to another folder.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Linux:
The camera should appear on the desktop as: ***media. Double-click it, now the sub-folders containing pictures should open.
