Question about Toshiba DKT-2020 Corded Phone

1 Answer

Pressing star doesn't make a tone.

I try to access the voicemail but pressing star does nothing. I was told it is probably because i need to make the phones produce a tone.

"If not, you may have to press a key sequence to have your phones play a tone."

Please help,

Re: pressing star doesn't make a tone.

The * key is set up to use as a speed dial key. If you program one of the other keys to be the speed dial key then the * should start working for you.

If you have no clue where to start (you don't have the manual) then you need to find out which Toshiba phone system you have (the phone you have will work on different Toshiba systems) and locate the manual for that OR you would have to pay a local phone installer to make the changes for you.

How to use romote code

Usually the phone sets are set to recognize a pound sign # or star sign * remotely. You may also have an access passcode (usually 4 digits) - there is a default with each phone set. Make sure you call from a touch tone phone when calling remotely. You can call from a cell.

1. To start, Call your home phone and as soon as your answering system answers try hitting one of the above mentioned keys. Try the star sign first - that should kick you into your voicemail system. Then most likely it will ask you for your passcode. From there it will work the same as if you were at your house. (You should always change your default passcode to a different number as most phones are sent from the factory with the same code.

Lost directions on uniden cordless phone DXAI8580-2, unable to access message as code using does not work????

If you mean the PIN for remote access, that's a two-digit number. If you've forgotten what it is, you can change it at the base station by following the instructions on page 12 of the manual.

If you mean the messages on your telephone company's voicemail system, try dialing *67 (that's star-six-seven). If that doesn't work, contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

How do you retrieve a voicemail from the vtech cordless phone model #CS5111?

Your phone does not have an internal answering machine/voicemail function. It only allows you to retrieve voicemail messages if you subscribe to voicemail service through your telephone service provider. Access and other features vary by telephone company and location, so you need to contact your phone company for specifics. The voicemail light on your phone lets you know if you have new messages on your phone company system. To disable this light if you do not subscribe to this service:
- Press PROG
- Use the up/down arrow keys to select CLR VOICEMAIL
- Press SELECT. The screen displays CLEAR? and YES flashes.
- Press SELECT to confirm. You will hear a confirmation tone.

Checking Voicemail Remotely.

You will need to call in to the Voice Mail hub extension directly, then press * to identify yourself as a user (on some systems you may need to press # or press * twice). The system will ask for your extension and password and you will be granted access. Your system administrator can inform you of which extension is the VM hub on your system.
This is what Christ at Mitel told me. I'm still trying to find out our hub extension number.
