Question about Dirt Devil Vacuums

Piece of chalk sucked into vacuum

I accidentally sucked a piece of chalk my vacuum and now I can tell the suction is horrible.  I'm not sure if it's stuck somewhere or what the problem is.

Yes, it is stuck somewhere in the vacuum. Turn it upside down, and you will probably find it lodged. Also could be lodged in hose somewhere.

Chess piece lost in shark navigator rotator

You must extract the chess piece or else it could move within the unit and cause further damage. If you cannot open the shark and get to the intake section, then have a service do it for you.

Have a small ball caught in between the handle and the hose and was wondering if the handle comes off

Depending on which style hose you have:

Dolphin Handle: There is a small retaining clip on the hose that can be removed by a flat head screw driver. Make sure your hose is not connected to the inlet and the power cord is disconnected from the inlet valve. If not you will receive an electric shock

Non Dolphin Handle: There are two screws under the handle. One at the back and one by the suction control. Remove those two screws, and pull the wire cover off by the suction control and when the piece is removed the hose should slide right out of the handle.

Have suction, new bag, brush moving but does not

Solved!!!

I went to my local Sears store and the salesman there looked at my vacuum and was able to resolve the issue. There was a piece of wire that had been sucked into the machine that then blocked anything else from being vacuumed up.

Thanks for your help.

No Suction

It sounds like the lint filter is clogged. It is located on the top clear plastic piece (the one with the dial to switch from floor to tool use) and is on the underside. It is a small (1 inch square) red plastic piece with a little door on it. Flip open the door and it is probably clogged with hair, carpet fibre, etc.. Clean it out and hopefully you will have suction again.

Cleaner is not picking up debris from pool bottom

Have you check the filter/baskets to make sure that you don't have a large piece of debris that is preventing suctions? You will also want to check each section on the vaccum systematically to make sure that there are not cracks or noticable areas of damage that would prevent the pool cleaner from working. Is is not moving at all or just not sucking properly? Can you give me more details as to what it, exactly, it is doing?

Obstruction in the hose?
Your vac has developed a hairball possibly.... when a piece of flexible media ie.... cardboard, plastic etc... gets lodged in the hose, and begins collecting hair & dust to the point it no longer has enough draft to pull debris from the floor.
