I got an error code FC on my Geospring Hybrid Water Heater. Please help

Sounds like you aren't the only one having this problem. The FC indicates a compressor failure. Here are the results one customer got after complaining directly to GE.

My Geospring hybrid water heater recently reported a heat pump failure and generated an error code called "hfc code f-c." Although GE will not tell you what this means, apparently it means failed compressor and mainly involves a failed part called the "evaporator asm." I think what happens is the coils in it leak, releasing the refrigerant inside. The heat pump cannot work without it. When this happens, it switches to "regular" resistant electric heat, which defeats the purpose of paying the extra expense and owning a hybrid water heater like the Geospring. I discovered this problem to be widely reported on the internet. I even found repair companies advertising hfc code f-c repair ... Google even autofilled it after I typed only "ge hybrid w," so clearly many people are having this problem. I've owned mine for about 2.5 years, but I think it lasted this long because our hot water use is relatively low. Others reported this problem in as little as a few months. BTW, evaporator coils last at least 10 years (the life expectancy of a Geospring), so there is no way this part should be failing so frequently and so quickly ... this is clearly GE's fault. I would not recommend buying the Geospring until GE comes clean and can assure the public that it has solved the problem on ALL Geospring models (I own the DNSRSA model) and is no longer using shoddy parts for manufacturing OR repair and extends full warranty coverage for all its customers that have this problem (and the other problems reported, such as power supply and main board).

FOLLOW UP (2/6/13): My Geospring has been repaired. GE agreed to do the repair for no charge for parts and labor. GE is also reimbursing me for extra energy consumed due to the heat pump failure. I asked if the problem had been solved so that the same part would not fail again and I was told that it was because the evaporator has been redesigned. OTOH, when I asked the repairman what the real problem was, he said, "China" (a man of few words). We'll see how it works out, I'll let you know if it doesn't! I did not have problems arranging for the repair, though I'm sorry to hear that others have. Could be because I live in a metropolitan area that might have more readily available resources than others. If you own a Geospring with the dreaded infamous "hfc code f-c," please make sure GE gives you the same consideration I got: free repair with no charge for parts and labor, plus a check for energy reimbursement.

Rheem criterion ii a/c problems

Not a scam but you can get 2 opinions. Moisture removal is a process of closed circuit HVAC. It appears that you have a lot of moisture. IS there a leak in the building structure? Outside air or a swamp cooler can cause this. Sounds like the evaporator coil on the inside unit needs cleaning badly. IT is dropping debris in the pan and causing the flood. The installation of the switches was an attempt to fix the issue by a guessing. I doubt the final diagnosis unless it was a direct result of something the repairman did. He added so many additional switches that it could be his modification that caused the issue.

Our tankless water heat will not heat the water-it won't ignite

Question posted under Boasch tankless. Model number not known.
Before calling service technician, open following link for Bosch troubleshooting resources, including phone and contact for Bosch, error codes, and possible manual, plus hours of reading and research:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Troubleshoot-Bosch-Tankless-water-heater.html

As you know from reading manual, tankless water heaters require yearly maintenance by trained service technician, or by homeowner. This action would check gas and pressure, venting draft, condensation drain, burner and combustion parts, igniter and-or pilot light, electrical connections, air intake and general condition of plumbing.
Problem you describe does not include error code.
Open following link for possible help with general plumbing problem:
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/No-Error-Code.pdf

Add a comment with model number that appears on side of unit, and I can directly locate possible service bulletins and further troubleshoot resources available at Bosch for possible do-it-yourself diagnosis and repair.

Tempra 12 the when you turn off the water the heating unit does not turn off then it gets hot and pop the reset

I am a free answerer, and I specialize in giving you resources for free.
The paid answerers may have a person who knows your product and the problems associated with your model.

I only see the questions where people have not paid.
Each day I see 20-25 unanswered questions about tankless water heaters.
And the day before, the same number of unanswered questions about tankless products.
The number of questions shows the complexity of the machines, and the inability of the manufactures to take care of their customers.
The manufacturer will refer you to the installer.

There are not many ways a do-it-yourselfer can fix a tankless.
In contrast with tankless, tank-type water heaters have generic troubleshoot steps that lead to a quick diagnosis, and same-day repair of almost any brand. Most times a tank-type heater repair can be DIY.

Hot water smells

Do you have a well? How old is the water heater? If I remember correctly, the water may have corroded your water heater valve thermostat bulb. Call the manufacturer ph# on the tank, give then make, model & serial # and see if the unit is under warranty and if they can give you a solution to your problem or a replacement part. Have a plumber or local repairman install part or repair it.
