Question about Pioneer Televison & Video

3 Answers

Hi Folks, I have a Pioneer PDP 503 CMX 50in. Plasma display that developes increasing green dots in some of the upper parts of the video after it's been running a couple of hours. Temp is not elevated (per the internal monitor). I've read this may be solved by doing a "diffusion" adjustment? I've done lots of TV work in the past but no experience with plasma. Can I find this easily when I pull the back off? And can I just adjust it while watching?

Ahhh....Have I missed something here? This is not a DLP set. I'm not aware that there's anything mechanical in a plasma set?

Thanks for the link! I did download it and am currently going thru it. But it's not long on help with a particular symptom. It may help in terms of understanding more of the function of the unit....But that'll take time. Anything more you can tell me about the "diffusion" adjustment? And, does that sound like a fit for the symptom to you? Or, anyone else?
One of the reasons I'm trying to find answers before I take the back off is that I didn't get the feet with it. That'll require me to have someone holding it up while I work. Yuk!

Hi,

This happens with almost all Flat Panel Televisions. It seems that your DLP Engine is going. The DMD board in the engine is the problem. it is an expensive fix.

Thank You for using fixya expertise.

Pioneer PDP 4330HD display flashes red LED 4 times

Hello,

Just seeing if you had resolved the problem as my mum's Pioneer PDP-433HDE which she bought back 2002 has developed this same fault.

It has been a perfect TV and done very well with plenty of good use, but I have a feeling the cost of repair - even if it is possibale will be costly.

Cheers

Nigel

I heard a pop from my tv and then the tv didn't work

Anything is repairable as long as the screen isn't damaged.
The sound you heard is most likely was a capacitor that just went dead.
Solder in a new capacitor should fix the problem. It would most likely be on the power supply board somewhere.

You'll need the Service Manual for parts list, diagrams, and schematics. Here's one place for that:

Any other questions just ask.
