Disk read error repetitive

My Asus PC got a disk read error. Pressing Cterl-Alt-Del wouldn't work. I got it fixed under warranty agreement and it took more than a month before I got it back. It then worked a few times before the same problem is now back again. Any suggestions?

Disk read error means hard drive is bad or the cables that connect hard drive to motherboard. This is something you have to work out on the warranty or you could end up paying a lot of money and not finding the real problem.

For the second time, exercise the warranty, and get it replaced, again.

A disk read error occurred, press ctrl+alt+del is showing when I open my laptop, please help...iTS the same problem even if i press ctrl+alt+del. thanks!

1. It is possible that your hard drive is faulty and have bad sectors or unable to read due to cable error or motherboard.
2. Try to re-seat the hard disk and if that doesn't work go to repair shop and get it checked, if problem is found ask them to recover the data if you need it and if possible.
3. Get a new hard drive.

Hi, windows can not come up, some error showing: A disk read error occurred. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart how can i get safe mode or reinstall windows or recovery?

First make sure there is no disk in your cd/dvd drive. Some users set there bios to boot from cd/dvd and forget there is a disk in the drive and then get this error. It no disk is in the drive, resart the computer and start pressing the F8 keyy until a menu comes up with options for Safe Mode. Also, you can choose to repair but you need the Operating System disk.

"A disk read Error

Hi,

It looks like problem with your Hard Disk Drive, your drive may have bad sector on it. You may have to remove yor HardDrive and connect it to other computer using converter cable which you may get in market or local computer shop to backup your data. If you already have backup with you, register call with acer support website and get it replaced free if under warranty.
If this laptop is not under warranty, you may have to buy new harddrive and replace it and restore your Operating systems, programs and data.

Hope this helps.

Hi there! Yesterday I was installing Windows XP

Sorry to hear your having issues installing the OS.

There is two problems your facing one is the disk is so scratched that the system can not read the disk or the hard drive has bad sectors or clusters which are failing when being written to.

You have two options to fix this one is to make sure the cd is clean an or replace your hard drive.

General disk read error message tend to be from hard drive cylinder's.

Error Msg: A disk read error occured.

WEll i don't know how they fixed it before but if you get a disc read error then it's a bad hard drive. They may have gotten it to read again but it's still a bad hard drive and needs to be replaced and a new one put in. Don't know if they charged you for a bad hard drive before but it doesn't sound like they replaced it. Get a new drive and re-install your operating system and it should be fine.
