Spotted an upward arrow on the plastic cover, and then felt at ease with applying strong pressure with fingers to move the piece upward and out.
i must confess that the packaging did contain a tiny paper diagram of performing this process (which i eventually found later) that was a separate paper and easy to overlook.

Phaser 6180 prints little black smudges on every page, spaced exactly across and down page

These will probably look like a little squiggle.

They are cause by a component in the toner cartridge.

Originally the cleaning roller was a plain roller, but at some time the 'bean counters' decided they could save a tiny bit of money on each cartridge by using a spiral foam roller instead. The foam also seems to be of a different type, and doesn't age well.

There are two solutions.

1. Replace the cartridge that is producing the coloured squiggle/

2, dismantle an OLD cartridge and if it has a plain (non-spiral) foam roller, swap that (along with it's supports - the new type are a different size).

Either of the above will cure the problem, but a new replacement cartridge may also show the problem in time, as it WILL have the spiral cleaning roller.

Error code 5C00 what is this and how do you repair this erroe

Hello,
This error is shown when there is any kind of foreign material or packing material stuck inside the printer which restricting the printhead to move freely. To resolve this issue, please follow the instructions mentioned below:
1) Confirm that the printer is powered off.
2) Disconnect the power cord from the printer or at the wall outlet or both.
3) Open the paper output tray and then lift up the scanning unit cover until it locks into position.
CAUTION: The orange protective tape may prevent you from opening the paper output tray. If that is the case, please refer to the illustration in step 3 to ensure the white foam piece is removed along with the protective tape. skumar_sreen.gif

4) Pull the orange protective tape (A) and remove the white foam (protective material) (B). skumar_sreen.jpg

5) If the the white foam was not removed along with the orange protective tape, check for it on the right, inside the printer. a) With the printer powered off and unplugged, slide the print head carriage to the left. b) Looking inside the printer from the left, locate the white foam in front of the purge area. Note: It is recommended to use a thin latex glove as there may be ink mist on the white foam or surrounding print area. skumar_sreen_0.jpg
c) Cautiously remove the white foam with your hands. Be careful not to touch any other components in the printer.

6) After removing the packing material, look for and remove any other paper debris or foreign objects from the extreme left and right sides of the carriage area.

7) Close the scanning unit cover.

8) Reconnect the power cord and then power on the printer.

SERVICE CALL 14 XFER ROLLER Have installed new transfer belt. Still had error message. Came here and read tips. Cleaned the sensor both in the printer and on the transfer belt; reinstalled. Still...

the transfer roller is a foam roller that transfers the toner onto the paper. It will be visible with toner removed, a little wider than a piece of paper, and about the thickness of a roll of quarters. I don't know how to physically remove it on your model, but transfer roller issues in general can be remedied by removing the transfer roller and wrapping it in packing tape until the tape comes off clean.
While you're in there, vacuum everything out for good measure; but never, ever use canned air on a laser printer.

Prints a black line down the my CD

check your plattern foam thingy (not the official term but close) thats the foam membrane that absorbs ink on boarderless printing etc, could be that the cd tray is acting on the foam if is a little lifted or displaced. but just a thought, never seen it happen like this before.

7: Press and HOLD RESUME for two seconds or more and release it.
8: Unplug AC Power Cord to set data.
Try this I found it doing a search on your machine, that foam was called a blotter, and it should work without it, good luck

All that foam packing inside Kenmore 75050 air conditioner

make sure what you're calling foam packing is not in reality foam insulation. If that's the case you'll ruin your unit by removing it. It would be pretty unusual for packing to be placed inside the unit.
