Cannot convert Word docs to PDF

Everytime I try to convert a Word doc to a PDF in Acrobat 8.1.5, the PDFmaker starts and appears to be working. However, no PDF of my Word doc us ever produced. I've deinstalled my Acrobat, re-run all the updates but can't seem to fix the problem...this is incredibly frustrating. It used to work fine.

I'm in Word when I try to convert. That is not the issue, the PDFmaker or PDF print driver must be corrupted or have some sort of error...

thanks for the help all around, but the adobe site wasn't totally helpful. i actually went into my printer options and deleted the Adobe PDF printer option then ran the 8.1.2 update (again) and it seemed to do the trick...

Hello,
If you are migrating MS Word file to Adobe PDF file format then use Kernel for Word to PDF converter tool to covert MS Word to PDF file format. This software is a very advance and user-friendly tool. This software supports all windows version and MS Word version. For more details read this blog: http://pdfutility.blogspot.com/2013/12/conversion-from-word-to-pdf.html

Since I never re-invent the wheel I'm simply going to point you to a VERY good article for troubleshooting Acrobat conversion, including PDF Maker: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/329/329852.html

Pay particular attention to the suggestion regarding changing the font under the header Troubleshoot document-specific issues.

I've found that quite frequently the inclusion of additional fonts not included with Windows is the culprit.

I understand you 'fixed it yourself' but the knowledgebase article I pointed you to specificaly states, "- If you can't create a PDF file from the new document, then the feature most recently enabled will continue to cause problems. Reinstall Acrobat PDFMaker. If the problem persists, contact Acrobat Technical Support."

So, to grade me at a 'Thanks Anyway' seems a bit harsh, wouldn't you say?

Links to Named Destinations Not Working

Ensure Acrobat 8 is fully updated (up through 8.1.4). Office 2007 support starts with Acrobat 8.1.0.

Some things to consider.

PDFMaker does not/cannot convert a file set as the target file for either a URI/URL or a UNC link path.

1st Way is If the file is 2003, firstly open the file that you want to convert, and then File, Print and Choose the PDF printer is OK.

2nd Way is save as the 2003 file to 2007 file format and then you can convert to pdf in just clicking right click in explorer and choose convert to pdf.

Doc chnages required

You can't.  You could try loading the Adobe professional software, but I do not think it lets you edit PDF's
If the Doc contains words you can OCR (Optical Character Recognition) it (ie read it) edit it an dthen create a new PDF.
