I am having problems downloading music on my Garmin Nuvi 760
When I plug the usb into my computer at work I can see the MP3 folder with my music in the folder, but I can't get it to locate the MP3 music once I un plug it from the computer. What should I do? I've put a San Disk TransFlash Adapter in, but I can't read that. Someone told that I may need more memory. My 765 T won't allow me to put mp3's on it either.

1. Connect the USB cable to device and computer 2. Double-click the My Computer (Windows computers) or the mounted-volume icon (Mac computers) 3. Double-click on the Garmin drive 4. Double-click on the Garmin Folder 5. Double-click on the MP3 Folder to open the folder. 6. Find the music file you want to delete Right click on it and select delete
Your Garmin only supports MP3 files and iTunes is all MP4. The Best way to convert them is with "Real Player sp" Which is probably on your computer already or downlaod it for free. Open the music library and right click on the centre. There you will see "Converter" Select convert to MP3. Don't open iTunes. Instead go through; Start, my music, iTunes, library. This way you can drag a whole album into the converter. Plug your Garmin in with the USB cable and go through; Start, my computer, storage device H. At the bottom of the converter you can select where to send the converted files. Select the device H. Now press start and let it do it's thing. When it's finished you can see the old files in MP4 format with the new files in MP3 format listed under. Drag and drop is only a copy. You can delete all these files after to keep it tidy. All the original stuff is still safe and you Garmin should now have music on it. Try it with a small tune first to test. Best of luck. Regards Chris4fingers
what you can do is try and move the music onto the drive and not into a folder. Also if you are using a Garmin GPS then you cant download music because the type of device doesn't allow .mp3 files of music and it has its own music interface
Step 1: Plug your Garmin 765 into your computer (Windows, Mac, Linux, Unix) with a USB cable.
Step 2: Navigate to the drive named GARMIN (varies by type of computer you have).
Step 3: Create a folder in the root for the GARMIN drive called MP3 (in all caps, just like the JPEG folder).
Step 4: Copy your MP3 files into this folder.
Step 5: Eject the GARMIN drive like any other USB drive.
Step 6: Unplug the USB cable as the 765 starts-up.
Step 7: Click Menu > Tools > Media Player > Browse
Step 8: Enjoy your music!
The device is not recognizing the file name. The Garmin GPS will only recognize MP3 files. Ipod (MP4) and other media files will not play. Converting the files to the MP3 format will correct the problem.
It should work the way other Garmin units work. Plug the unit into the computer via the USB cable. The computer should recognize the unit as a mass storage device. Click on the Garmin (it should be shown under your storage devices) and you should see a folder marked MP3. Drag and drop the music files you want into this folder, then disconnect the unit (safely, of course). That should do it.
