GE washing machine Toploader will not fill with water

Water Inlet Valve
First check the hoses that connect to the water inlet valve. Remove these completely there should be a screen in at least one end and maybe both ends. Clean these screens. Next check the back of the water inlet valve screens and remove and clean. If cleaning these out does not correct the problem you will need to check to make sure you have power going to the water inlet valve. Most top loaders will have 120 volts going to the valve. Check each solenoid on the valve. You will need to have the washer on and turned to a fill cycle when checking. If you have power and still no water replace the water inlet valve. No power replace the control. see the diagram attached

Control / Timer

This is less likely the problem but can fail. If you have no power going to the water inlet valve when selecting a fill cycle the timer/ control has failed and you will need to replace the timer.

My dishwasher will drain but will not fill up with water ?

Hello there
Specific symptoms include: Little or no water enters the tub . To find the cause, first check to be sure the water is ON.

always “zero” the ohmmeter before making any continuity checks on dishwasher components. . When making continuity checks with the volt/ohmmeter, always turn the electricity OFF at the circuit breaker panel. Live voltage checks will damage the meter movement. With the water ON, remove the lower panel. Place a towel or shallow container on floor to absorb water. Loosen the nut that secures the dishwasher water tubing to the inlet port of the water inlet valve. If water collects immediately in the towel or container, it can safely be assumed that the water pressure is adequate and the plumbing system is not clogged . If little or no water collects in the container, the water line gate valve could be defective or there is a problem in the plumbing system.
Turn the water OFF. Remove the lower panel. Loosen and remove nut that attaches water tubing to water inlet valve inlet port. With tubing removed, check for corrosion and debris that has accumulated inside the tubing and inlet valve inlet port. . Turn the water supply ON. Select a cycle on the timer dial where the dishwasher starts to fill with water. If it starts to fill with water — you fixed it. The problem was corrosion inside the water tubing or inlet valve water inlet port. If the dishwasher still does not fill with water, an additional electrical check will have to be made.Next, test for electrical power to the water inlet valve from the dishwasher timer assembly. Using the volt/ohmmeter, set the meter on the 150-volt scale and attach the two test leads of the volt/ohmmeter to the two terminals of the water inlet valve solenoid coil to be checked. Turn the water ON. With the test leads attached to the solenoid terminals, select a cycle on the dishwasher timer dial where the dishwasher starts to fill with water. Push in or pull out the timer dial. You should get a voltage reading of 110-125 volts A/C on the volt/ohmmeter scale. If you get a reading, this would indicate that electricity is available from the dishwasher timer assembly to the water inlet valve. However, the absence of water flow means the water inlet valve is defective

GE Dishwasher Model # GSD2400N00WW Starts but I do not get any water. How to check for the problem? Thank You!

First check under the sink to see it the supply valve is on. Next listen to the unit when it should be filling, do you hear and spitting, or water sounds? If not the inlet valve may be bad or the inlet valve screen may just be full of debris from the hot water pipes (common problem) and needs to be cleaned. It is possible as well that the controller, or timer is not giving a signal for the valve to open but this is less likely.

I have a GE GSD2230Z00WW dishwasher water will not fill on start no power on the fill valve either. Water will come on quick wash cycle and rinse.

Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

***If everything checks out ok with the water inlet valve, replace the timer or control board.

Had the same problem with ours today. That's why I got on here. My dad used a gallon jug to prime it with a gallon of hot tap water. We primed it to get it pumping, and now it is working fine. Just pour the hot water into the dishwasher and start it.

Kenmore dishwasher mod # 363.14375791 hums, wont fill or run

Are you sure the valve is what is humming? If so, it may have went bad again. Its not unusual for that to happen. You could possibly have a timer going bad, or a ground issue. If it is the valve humming, check your water supply, and be sure you dont have a clogged line. Also, some valves have inlet screens over the end of the inlet valve (would be just inside the fitting where it goes into the valve). These can become clogged as well. Let me know what you find out.
