Blue screen on TRV 260 playback

I have Sony Handycam TRV 260. Last week it started giving message about dirty head. So I tried to clean the video head using nail polish remover solution and a ear-bud. After this, now the handycam doesn't play at all. When I try to playback, it just shows blank blue screen. Can anybody help? Thanks. /Hemant

Never use nail polish remover and cotton bud to clean video head as its best combination to break video head terminals.
Always use Sony Video-8 head cleaning tape that available in stores.

Use a firewire cab le to connect to the computer. Then open Windows Movie Maker to capture. With Digital-8 you may have to start the camera manually. eg. push the play button on the camera

Sony handycam dcr-dvd105 has error message c21:00 moisture condensation. It has been like this for a week. My last use worked fine. I had stored it at room temp inside.

No knowing how old or condition of your equipment is ... its hard to suggest a solution. But the dew sensor of sony equipment tends to get dirty very quickly ... needs to be clean with a q-tip & alcohol every couple of years.

Error code c 31 22 and it says to install a cleaning head tape (I guess it's dirty) on a handycam trv-138

Hi,
Actually this problem is related to the loading of tape path which get misaligned, most of the times improper insertion of cassette caused this problem and secondly dust/dirt in the gears of mechanical could be the cause. In this situation cleaning and mechanical adjustment is required, and mechanical adjustment bit difficult and only expert can perform this, therefore i advise for an expert to sort this problem.
Hope you will understand my sayings.
Thanks for using fixya.

PLAY BACK

If the sound track of the recording you are playing is perfect and the noise is coming after you received dirty head error, there must be :

1) sometimes the tape ribbion leaves fine black dust on the drum, below the video head. If you look closely, the video head is in two parts. the lower part is stationary, which has a slanting guide for the tape ribbion to move on. The fine black dust deposites on this guide, disturbing the proper contact of the ribbion with the head, resulting in distorted sound. Once removed the play back is normal. You can blow it off or remove it by fine brush.

Playback

if the camera is going on in the play mode and you are getting a blue screen with play indicator it is mostly due to dirty head. what have you used for cleaning the head. take the help of repairer for cleaning as he will do so after opening the cover. if that doesent solves the problem then get the video head checked for any damages such as broken tips.

if all the indicators i.e. battery condition, play mark, counter, etc are visible on the screen then it can be a simple problem of dirty video head. try using a head cleaning cassette or do the head cleaning manually, Open the cover by removing three screws on the right hand side next to the viewfinder. Slide it little towards front and pick it up. The video head will be visible.

Head-Cleaning Tape not Working

Another post here noted yet another discussion about giving the camera a whack on the side. This is not a good idea but since it fixed it points out that it was unlikely it was something the tape cleaner would fix. This likely means a trip to the repair depot.
