Question about SanDisk Sansa View 8GB MP3 Player - Black

Usb not recognizedon sansa e280

Usb not recognized on sansa e280 (sandisk) I connected the mp3 player to the computer to charge and drop some music onto the player. The problem is it is not getting recognized as a storage device but an MTP device and is not visible in My Computer folder.

    Have you tried downloading a driver from SanDisk's website? Plug and Play may be the issue, and installing the driver manually would fix that.

Your problem is not uncommon with many mp3 players, i am assuming your using Vista?
here is a link to Sansa that helps with this problem.
But before that I would try plugging your USB cord into a port on the back of the computer and preferably a usb 2.0 port.
If this doesn't get you connected right try this page for a solution.

With a desktop computer and the USB cable you can transfer music to your SanDisk Sansa MP3 player. Simply hook the USB cable up to an available USB port and begin dragging music files to the folders of your SanDisk MP3 player1 Free a USB port on your desktop computer. I re-formatted my Sansa e280 and now my computer does not recognize it. I am wanting to transfer music files only, using Windows Media Player.


Try to reset the device and if there is any driver for it, install them before connecting it to the computer.

I had the same problem when I connected to the computer. So I used my friends Labtop definite 2.0 usb. Did you try to update your sansa click on link and download install run connect sansa when asked.

this has the manual also Make sure USB mode is MSC I use my computer to drag and drop my music from my music folder to the sansa media folder.... Open my computer click on folder what ever folder has your music in it and drag to media folder and drop (click on the (+)where it say's sansa ) easier not to sync

MY SANSA ISNT RECOGNIZED BY MY PC!


Try connecting it to another computer and see if it will recognize it as sansa or removable drive. if it does then download the sansa update software and install it. Make sure you disconnect the sansa and connect it when asked. This will update your sansa and add the Usb Mode. Tips & Warnings
  • When properly connected, the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player displays a USB Connected message on its LCD screen.
  • The music files in the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player will have different icons next to their filenames which will tell the file type at a glance (MPEG, MPEG layer 3 or WMA, for example).
  • Some songs feature copyright protection which may interfere with your ability to transfer music to the SanDisk Sansa MP3 player.

E280 not charging


You might have to get a new charger--But be careful. If the charger isn't made especially for the Sansa e280 there's the possibility of it messing up the mp3 player itself.

It could also be your computer's USB port. Try using a friend's computer or a different USB port perhaps and see if it works then.

These are the most common methods for recovering Sandisk's Sansa Mp3 Players. I have been almost universally successful in recovering Sansa players using one or a combination of these methods. These methods do not work if you are having synchronization or music format issues - they are for recovering a player that will not power up, freezes, flashes, is not recognized by the computer, and a host of other issues.

Reset the Sansa Player first. On most models, restart is done by holding the power button in for 15 seconds or longer. Check your specific manual to be sure. The manuals are available from the Sansa website if they have been misplaced.
Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/DriverDownload/driverList.asp
If these fail, then:
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If you get the problem where MTP Device keeps popping up continuously, uninstall the “MTP Device” by going to Start à Control Panel àSystem à Hardware à Device Manager (you computer may vary slightly, depending on Windows Version).
You may have to restart your computer after each of these methods to get them to work properly. Disconnect your Sansa player BEFORE shutting down your computer.
