Whirlpool GS470LEM Gas Kitchen Range Logo
Posted on Jun 01, 2009

The electronic oven control my whirlpool GS470LEM is blank.

Oven and burner was working OK last week. Then our subdivision had a power outage for about 4 to 5 hours a few days ago. I seldom use the oven so I didn't notice until 3 days later that the electronic oven control panel is blank. No time, no clock nothing works on the buttons. So basically, I can't use the oven. The burner and igniter works so I dont think its a power issue? Please help. What is wrong with it?

I am having the same problem after a blackout yesterday. The range hasn't come on, even after we checked the breaker.

Have a Whirlpool Gold Accubake Double Oven. After a power outage, the display is dark and ovens are not responding to keypad. Lights work both from doors and keypad. Directions?

Hello!
This blank display is a common control board problem. If the buttons beep when pressed, then the control board is getting adequate power. If the buttons beep.. and your oven light still turns on when the oven door is open.. this a text book control board failure. We at Fixyourboard.com can solve this problem for you, and back the remanufacture with a two year warranty.

Top burners work, but oven and broiler won't come on and control panel won't light up.

I need the make/model number to help you accurately. However, from what you're describing, it sounds like the oven control board is blown out. The oven is totally separate from the top burners on a lot of units. You will have a separate burner control knob and then a panel for all the oven controls. The fact that the top burners work indicates 240v is getting into the range. Did you have a power outage recently? Usually about 3-4 weeks after the event things happen or *don't* happen with electronic appliances. This is because surge-damaged chips start to fail after a period of time if the unit wasn't blown out immediately by the power restoration. When the power company restores power, there is usually a large surge of current and it overwhelms the computer boards in microwaves, ovens, dishwashers, washers, dryers, refrigerators, etc. Also, I've seen bug infestations where the board is blown out due to the critters crawling across the live boards--if the clock is on, there is power on that board. I hope I helped you!

My whirlpool range oven is not working. Burners on top are working fine. Digital lights on the oven such as start and setting are off, no power, apparently

Either your electronic oven control is bad, or else your neutral wire to the range is open or disconnected.

We had a power outage today during the self cleaning process of our double oven.. The Electronic Oven Control panel is dead. No lights of any kind. The circuit breaker is ok. Upper door is locked.

Turn the breaker off for 5 minutes. this will reset the system. If you still have no power then it spiked your control board and it's the board that is fried.
