Will not boot up

I have a toshiba p105. When I press the power button the laptop comes on to the toshiba start up screen but then the screen just turns black and windows does not boot up. I can get into to the bios but that's about all I have tried to use a recovery disc and I've even tried to use the vista install disc to run a fresh install but, when I tried to do a fresh install the partition is not available.

I think the problem lies in ur HardDisk.Either it is gone bad or their is loosening in the wires or might be a dust problem.Laptops r a bit complicated things,I suggest u to show it to an expert.

So I"m assuming that you're able to boot up off a Windows disc? If that is the situation then your hard drive is bad. That is the reason it is hanging when you first start the computer is that it can't find a bootable device. When you try to install Windows and it can't find a partition is because your hard drive is bad and can't be seen. Need to buy a new one.

Try this :

1. unplug the ac adapter and remove the battery .
2. press and hold power button for a minute
3. now put the battery back and plug in ac adapter
4. turn on the laptop now

it should work.

if not, try removing hard drive and memory modules then reinstall them back.

if the issue persists, your motherbord has gone bad.

I have a Toshiba satellite p105-s6147 when i press the power button the blue light comes on but nothing happens even when i have it pluged in the wall with and without the battery.

Majority of the time with the P105 it's the motherboard that is at fault.

You can try reseatting the memory modules to see if that makes a difference but other than that there's not much you can do but replace the board or send it into Toshiba for repair.

For some models, however -- including those listed above -- booting from the Recovery disc requires pressing the F12 key, rather than the 'C' key. The instructions below are correct for these models.
CAUTION: The Recovery process reformats the computer's hard disk drive, which completely erases its contents -- including all applications, all documents, and all other data stored on the drive. Be sure to back up your documents and other data before following the instructions below.
Follow these steps to erase the current contents of the hard disk drive and to re-install all of the software that was installed on the computer when it was manufactured:
1. With the computer on, insert the first Recovery disc into the optical drive.
2. Shut down the computer (click the Start button, click Shut Down, select Shut Down, click OK).
3. Press the computer's power button to turn the computer on, and then immediately press and hold the F12 key. Release the F12 key when the menu of boot options appears.
4. Use the arrow keys to navigate to the CD/DVD option. Press the Enter key to select it.
The computer will restart, and will boot from the Recovery disc.
5. Follow the instructions on the screen to start the Recovery process.
CAUTION: Once the Recovery process has begun, do not interrupt it.

The computer's hard drive will be formatted, erasing its contents. All of the software that was installed on the computer when it was manufactured will then be re-installed.
6. Once the Recovery process is complete, remove the Recovery disc, and press any key to restart the computer.
