I recently purchased a beautiful Singer 301A. However, I can't seem to get the stitches to stitch out smooth--- rather it bunches up and doesn't move smoothly with the fabric. I pull the fabric out only to find gobs of stitches on the bottom. I am researching the web for possible solutions. I bought the machine because of its great reputation for workmanship and long wear. Thanks Deborah I have a Singer 301a which i recently inherited and the needle hits the moving bobbin case below the face plate causing the needle to break. I an using a singer 2020 needle. Any instruction on how to fix my problem? Debbie
Your machine threads from right to left. the needle flat spot faces left. big loopy things means that the upper part of the machine is not threaded properly. as far as the needle hitting the bobbin case, it sounds as if someone removed the hook (part that holds the case) and put it back on 180 degrees off.
