Question about Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

The oven no longer works - this thing isnt that old! When you try to turn it on you just hear a few clicks from the control panel. The cook top works just fine. It is a kenmore Mod# 665.9214 electric range.

Hi there,

on such case like your, it seems that you have a faulty control board on your unit.. a possible problem on the fuse near the control board or the main board was damaged that need to be check and fix.

sometime this happen when you do a self cleaning on the unit, and an improper termination of the task may result with this

hope this initial info helps.

I have a Superba built-in YKEBS 177 D56 ( dual convection/convention)...I think it might be about 10 years old. I noticed the same thing starting last year..the temperature seems a litlle off and the cook time on the convention seems to take longer. I've never used the conventional oven so I don't know if the temperature is OK on that component.
I don't have a manual. and I've been searching for it...does anyone know which one I need?
Sorry I couldn't help with your problem, mine is similar to your though!!

The "SE" error indicates a shorted membrane keypad.

I have just moved into a 10 year old house. It has Blanco gas cook top and a Blanco wall oven. My problem is the electric starter for the gas top does not work. and the Oven indicators eg. top element,...

#1 You may have a blown fuse which sets all these issues together

#2 Your sparker may need to be tested, try a voltmeter to it and see what it reads. If voltmeter reads voltage, then it's a simple adjustment of distance to contact. If no voltage, then you'll need to replace sparker.

#3 as far as your indicators, that has to be an internal fuse.

I agree with you for not replacing these appliances, I love to cook with gas

The bottom heating element won't heat up

If the new element is good then the next thing to check is the selector knob (COOK/BROIL) and the thermostat for the oven.

To check the thermostat, turn the selector to BROIL and turn the thermostat up until the top element begins to heat. Let it heat up a little then turn the thermostat down until it clicks off. If this works then your thermostat is working.

The problem then must be your selector control. Remove and replace (turn power off at circuit breaker box first!).

Of course, if the thermostat won't turn on the upper element either then it must be the thermostat.

There is a possibility also that a loose/broken/burned wire is causing the problem. You should check for this when you open up the control panel (after turning off the circuit breaker!).

Good luck!

My oven doesn't work.

before you replace the control panel, take a quick look inside the oven at the ceramic spark starter.. when you (tyr to) turn your oven on you should hear a bunch of little snap sounds.. sparks trying to light the burners inside the oven..

if you try to use the element (broil) without the gas - you'll get a better bearing on whether or not the gas element(s) are lighting or not inside the oven..

hope that helps..

Our refridgerator is no longer cooling.

Is it not cooling at all? Like you to try a few things to help locate the problem. Look inside the fresh food compartment where the controls are and try to turn the defrost timer clockwise. May be hard to find but inside the controls panel where light and thermostat are located look for a small opening or plastic plug about the size of a pencil. Turn the timer by putting pencil eraser or something big enough to turn it until you hear a click and the refrigerator stops running or if the refrigerator compressor begins to run. Let me know, Thanks Sea Breeze

Viking microwave has digital lights but will not turn on to cook?

Hi the problem will be with the touch panel membrane or the controller. if yoiu can hear a click when the start button is pressed then the touch panel is OK asnd you should look at the controller which can be replaced as a unit or if you are up to it it's probably the main cook relay that has failed.

Oven stops after a few seconds

I like the information you give.
If the unit will work with the control Panel at a 45 degree angle it tells me you have a loose connection. The 45 degree angle puts enough pressure on the connection to keep it completed. With the Control Panel in it's normal position, the loose connection Heats and Opens the connection. After it cools connection is again made until it Heats up again. Remember Expansion, Contraction. I do not believe you have a Magnetron issue!! A Magnetron does not know if the Control Panel is at an angle.
Can you hear a slight "Click" when the unit shuts down? If so this is a relay opening. When you say you replaced the Control Board. Was this the Control Panel PC Board, or was it the Cook-Relay Control Board? A Door Switch not making solid contact can do this. Is your Door latching down solid? Check for loose connections, not open LOOSE.
