Camera wont turn on

I have a new camera, about just a few months old but never been used till now. It came with no charger, dont ask why XD and It was low on battery and I tried charging it with a 10v charger, but it didnt got in, it just touched the entrance and when it did the camera screen turned on and off and never turned on again. I read its a 5v camera...but when I saw the battery it says its 3.7v.. I already tried connecting it without the battery to a 5v charger but it wont turn on, with or without it....is it ruined?

If you put it on a 10 V charger you probably bust the caps in it,

Hi try to reset ur camera...To do such reset, turn on the camera and hold the menu button down for longer than 5 seconds. A message should hopefully come up on your LCD asking if you want to reset the camera. Select Yes...thank u!!!

It's possible that your camera, being 7 years old, was never designed for a 2gb card. You can find cards of all sizes at amazon.com

Connect the charger. If the camera works while connected to the charger, you need a new battery.

Formatting Type M XD Card for A330

I just solved the same problem - it took a while. The original A330 camera was NOT set up to use with newer M type XD cards. But there IS a fix. You need to update the camera's "firmware". Go to:

http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital/download/index.html

The scroll down to Firmware and find the A330 one. Download it to your computer's harddrive. Save it in a folder of its own.

Then EXTRACT the FinePix 330 file of about 604 KB that you will find in your new folder (do that by clicking it). It will produce a new file called FPUPDATE, a DAT file of about 1857 KB. LEave that.

Now either stick the old XD card into your computer (if it has an XD slot), or a Card Reader connected to your computer, or connect your camera with the old card to the USB port.

Once your computer recognizes the old XD card, just COPY the FPUPDATE file right onto the XD card by dragging it over.

Then insert the old XD card back into the camera (or disconnect the camera from the USB, turn it off).

Now here's the key: MAke sure your batteries are good. Turn on the camera WHILE HOLDING DOWN the DISPLAY/BACK button.

You will get a screen that says FIRMWARE UPDATE. Accept it, let it load, and it will upgrade to Version 1.77 that accepts M-XD cards!

Then put in the new card. Then FORMAT it by using the MENU screen on the camera.

Once you do that it will WORK (it took me 2 days to figure this out!!!!!). Good thing this is just a back up camera for me!

OLYMPUS SP350 WONT TURN ON

Try this:

1. Remove batteries
2. Remove XD card
3. Power up without XD card and try taking a few pictures using the internal memory.
4 If this works OK I suspect it is the XD card at fault. I have had a problem with a couple of cards but most of these were when I tried reading the card using an external card reader.
5. If you have one available or can borrow one try another XD card.

I have heard that some people have had some success using the following method to restore XD card.

If you know someone with a Fuji digital camera which takes XD cards then ask them to try formatting the card in their camera for you. Maybe your local retailer will let you try this with one of their display models. I have not tried this myself.

If this fails there are some card recovery programmes on the internet - try searching for CONVAR in Google.

If the card is a Fuji card then you could try contacting Fuji as they offer a card recovery service - or at least try to recover images from corrupt cards. Contact them on the internet first to check conditions and costs.

Finally I have not had any problems with the camera since I started using lithium or rechargeable lithium batteries.

No problems that is to say other than the person pushing the shutter release.

Screen reading memory card not initialized

The trouble with trying to format large cards of 1Mb or 2 Mb is that in order to do so you need your original card or a card that currently WORKS. I have one of 16 Mb. Go to Fujis web help page and download the firmware fix "FinePixA340" to your PC. Run and extract the data file "FPUPDATE".Now you have to put this file onto the old card. I pasted it so it was "beside" the DCIM folder ( NOT the next one down 100_Fuji folder or it won't work). To copy and paste you may have to connect the camera to the PC or use a XD card reader/writer via a USB port. Having done that, put the card back into the camera if you used a XD writer and switch off the camera. For the next bit make sure your batteries are good or connect to a power supply. Hold down Disp/Back button and THEN turn on camera. It should have detected the new firmware data file. Follow the simple instructions-say yes and let the data file load--takes a few minutes. The camera should say the new version !.22. Now that the firmware has been updated , you can now format your NEW LARGER cards 1 or 2 MG. So take your old card out ,put the new card in and format. It worked sweet as a nut for both 1 and 2 MG. The trick is to use a card that already works, load firmware file onto this , update file onto camera, then format a larger card. Its what they don't say exactly that causes frustation. Happy formating campers
