Question about Xerox Phaser 8500/DN Printer

Phaser 8500N Text looks like a shadow or an echo effect

Blurred output inter mitently. More like the first page then the rest that follow are ok. Text looks like a shadow or an echo effect. Text looks like a shadow or an echo effect. Does not happen to every page all the time. seems to come around in cycles. Or in the middle of that important job.

    This is the best idea I have had on what is causing this problem.


    How big is this encoder? I have some denatured alcohol from another job. Facing the printer is it on the Rt. side? My clean out tray locks in when power is off do the Matain. and clean out need to be removed before opening the rt side?

There is an encoder on the end of the drum drive shaft. located on the right frame of the machine.
It becomes contaminated with the silicon lubricant from the maintenance kit, and off the rotating drum.
You remove the power from the machine, remove the encoder, and flush it thoroughly with alcohol. Then give it time to dry well, and put it back on the shaft. That WILL correct that problem. It is possible the encoder is bad, but I really do not suspect that because your problem is intermittent. But that is your problem, I guarantee it.

    Locate the drum opening then look for the shaft that runs to it.
    The encoder normally has a black plastic shroud around it and maybe 2 inches diameter.
    Once you locate the drum and shaft it is the only thing with wires running out of it.
    Yes, on the Right side, referencing from the front. I would guess just slightly less than half way back, almost mid way up on the machine.
    You can go to Xerox.com and look at documentation on 8400, and I think 8500 printers as a reference. Pretty much the same style encoder.

    I am 99.99999999999 percent sure once you get the encoder clean your problem will be resolved. What happens is the silicon from the maintenace kit causes the encoder to speed up the drum whenever it feels like, causing intermittent blurring. Happens often to that product.
    What you want to do with a phaser printer, is to be 100 percent sure it is sitting level, take a level and place it on top of the printer, and be certain it is level both side to side and front to back.
    You can't believe how many problems you will prevent with that printer simply sitting level.

    If you need to replace the encoder, call 1-800-835-6100 and press the prompt for parts support. I doubt you will have to replace it.

Xerox Phaser 7300 color misregistration


Apparently, turning the unit off for 30 seconds, then back on will force the Phaser 7300 to do a color alignment procedure (according to Xerox support).

Then, if the problem persists, you are instructed to follow a very detailed troubleshooting procedure which I will leave with you in the following link:

We have a Xerox Phaser 8500N printer. The yellow is printing out a dingy gold. I hav checked the yellow print blocks and there is plenty.


What it essentially boils down to is that you're not printing enough color. The blocks are melted into a holding bin and will discolor over time. To correct this, you will need to purge the color that is "stale". Go to this link http://www.solid-inks.co.uk/technical_support-phaser_850_860_8200.html?category_id=1 and download the pdf for your color (I would recommend downloading all four to keep on hand). You'll want to open the PDF and print 10 to 20 copies until the bad ink is replaced with fresh ink. You'll notice the color change as the ink is purged.

Printer output has shadows, blurring, streaks, lines, poor color


Seem like blocked hole(s) on the color print head...
Most likely if there is a deep clean option then do it (may need a few times to unblock a hole or never).
Also get the printer physically cleaned up if you can see dusts inside (vrtical lines on color bars).

You have to go into Diagnostics. Once in Diagnostics arrow down to function menu.
Then select
Then arrow down to ClearISCfaults hit OK
follow instructions on screen.

Check the paper path for any and all debris. Use canned air to remove any debris. Also check the paper tray guides to see if they are matched correctly.

Phaser 8500N color problem


There is a process called TEKCOLOR correction.
It is on the xerox.com site.
Search for phaser 8500 under the support, in support in the search area enter.
Solutions for Colors are Off or Wrong

I can't get rid of the margins when i print something


I'm guess you are printing from MS Word? Click File the "Page Setup" Click the layout tab the far right then go to the bottom and click borders and select the NONE option. You should have your borders removed!! =) That is if that is the type of border you are talking about.
