You may want to remove the power brick at the back of your printer, wait a few seconds and reinsert back. Then try the steps listed in the user guide to install new carts, page 42.

My hp deskjet 6940 inkjet printer doesn't show me level of ink in cartridge

Print a diagnostic page If the steps above have not helped, print and evaluate a diagnostic page to see if the cartridges or the printer is causing the problem.
  1. Make sure the printer is on and loaded with unused, plain, white paper.
  2. Press and hold the Power button and then press the Cancel button. Release both buttons. The diagnostic page prints. Figure 1: Power and Cancel buttonsc00584735.gif 1 - Cancel button 2 - Power button
Step 4: Note which cartridges printed which areas of the diagnostic page You must identify which cartridge printed which part of the diagnostic page, so that if you find defects on the page, you will know which cartridge is the problem. However, you can install different combinations of print cartridges in your printer, and different cartridge combinations print different diagnostic page patterns. Your diagnostic page may not look exactly like the picture below, but the right and left cartridges will print in the same areas of the page no matter which cartridges are installed. Figure 2: Diagnostic page layout (the patterns in each area may look slightly different on your page)c00584715.gif 1 - Printed by the right cartridge 2 - Printed by the left cartridge NOTE: If you are printing in reserve mode (one cartridge is missing), the missing cartridge's area of the diagnostic page will be blank. Step 5: Check ink levels NOTE: If you have installed a refilled or remanufactured ink cartridge, or a cartridge that has been used in another product, the ink level indicator is inaccurate or unavailable. Look in the middle of the diagnostic page. The bars with "E" (for "empty") and "F" (for "full") at each end show the ink levels in the cartridges. As ink is used, the solid color changes to a faded color. I have put a new black cartridge in printer but nothing is printing out- when I run a test the color cartirdge are working but not black

Hmmm, make sure it is properly fitting in there.... Take it out and put it back in.... Usually the printer performs some kind of "preparing the ink" operation... SO allow it to does this...... Make sure you are using genuine ink, sometimes printers won't accept non-genuine inks.... Hope this helps :)

I changed both ink cartridges before my A940 printer was warmed up. I tried to print an alignment page and then a message came up on my screen that a cartridge was missing. I reset the color cartridge and ...

Open the top and left and right cover of printer.
There is lock system for open cover just pull the cover after removing screws.
Then You can see printer assembely inside it.
For open ink cartridges turn on the printer then ink cartridges are in middle then just pull ink cart to your direction then check.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Shut if off, then wait 15 minutes. Change to all Genuine Cartridges.

Hello, In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. That sounds like your problem. Also in Purchasing the Brother's . Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, etc. These printers have a chip, that will detect if it is Generic or Genunie. When using Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, but you have to fill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Black dots on printed page from Brother 9440 color laser printer

The problem lies with the black toner cartridge. This is a common problem in these machines due to poor design by Brother. Best solution is to replace the offending color toner cartridge.

They are not in the middle as shown in the manual. I still can't find them. God! this printer is only that big and I spent three days looking at every possible corners and gaps and still can't see where the ink cartridges are. Will not buy this Canon printer again.

My printer is not printing. it will run the paper

I see you don't have much knowledge about printers. It always helps to know something about your printer. It seem you have a color printer. Usually a color printer has two cartridges. Black cartridge and color cartridge. The color cartridge usually contains three colors; cyan, yellow and magenta. If the black cartridge is empty, you won't see black text in the printed paper. Print a small photo and see. If it has all the colors, but looks dull (without proper black color), that means only the black cartridge is empty. If it is greenish, the magenta ink is missing. Generally orange colored printouts suggest cyan is missing. Likewise, purple color means the yellow ink is missing. If you installed the printer properly using the CD from the printer manufacturer, you will be notified when the cartridge is empty or close to run out of ink. But if Windows automatically installed your printer, then the system won't give such information. From the information you have supplied, I believe your blck cartridge is empty or missing. Oh, I almost forgot to say, some manufactures sell some printers (for example some Canon Pixma models) with only the color cartridge. Switch on the printer and open the printer cover. The cartridges will move to the middle. You can check whether the black cartridge is missing. Do not hesitate to contact us for further help.

We have brother 3 in one first said needs ink yellow so we did

It is recommended to change the cartidges together, however if one of the cartridges still has ink in it, you do not have to replace them together. The printer may still print with an empty cartirdge but if you are printing something in color it will print without the missing color causing the document to look funny. Hope this helps.
