Re: Some time it prints in pink
Do you see the color cartridge icon in the progress window being low ?. Or do you get an low ink warning dialog when you print a job. First try cleaning the cartridges if that doesnt help, you may need to replace your color cartridge.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

This has to be done through an application like Microsoft Word. For instance on Office 2007 you would select the Mailings tab then click on Envelopes to specify the address etc. In previous versions you would have had to click on the Tools menu then Letters and Mailings then Envelopes and Labels. Once you've got all the information you want printed on the envelope Place the envelope in the printer in the exact configuration shown on the printer. Should have a feed on the side, look for the envelope symbol. Print and you'll be good to go. (:
I was so pissed off that so many on the web had this same problem that I spent many hours trying to get it to work. I am sure that this is not how it is designed to work but my envelopes got printed.First I went under File, Print, Properties to Page Set-up for envelope #10. I also ********** print colour images in black and white which someone else had suggested- although it might not be necessary. I selected quick print but normal should probably work too. I then closed out these two windows. Then under tools, I selected Letters and Mailing, then envelopes and labels, typed in the addresses, went under options and changed the feed from automatic to default tray, which automatically changes the feed method to the 4th one out of 6 which wasn't what I wanted but ignore it. Check off face up. Putting the envelope into the printer was bizarre- it has to be inserted very far into the printer until only 2-3 inches of the envelope stick above the horizontal surface of the printer. It must be inserted into the middle of the paper holder, until it is just 2-3 inches sticking up, and then slide it all the way over to the right where the printer indicates the envelope should be- nice and straight against the right margin. Do not use the movable paper holders that they suggest you swing over to the right to hold your envelope- or printing won't occur for some odd reason. Press O.K. on envelopes and labels and then press print. Good luck- it worked for me.
There must be an issue with the size of the envelope the printer is expecting. If you're using Microsoft Word, check under "Letters and Mailings" and then "Evevolopes and Labels" to check the size you have set the envelope to. Perhaps its also a setting in File and Page Setup or in the printers own settings under Control Panel and Printers. Sorry for not being of more help but if its not jamming or giving an error then its probably just set to the wrong envelope size.
First you need to change the settings in the software you are trying to print the envelope. Open the program (for example MS Word), go to the option from which you print envelopes and labels. Set the font color to black, not "automatic", and in Word, click "default", which sets the color as black rather than allowing the printer or its software to select the wrong color. Then try to print on the envelope and let us know if you are able to print the envelope in black only.
Check on your color (not mono) ink levels. If they are low, this could cause this.
Technical info: On this printer, envelope text is printed in "composite black" which means we mix the colored inks to make black. This is done for envelopes and not letters because of the ink properties which resist water and smear. If one of the colors is low, you'll get something other than black.
Usually letter envelopes are insert long-way into your printer. I recommend using the Microsoft Word envelope wizard to print Sender and/or Recipient addresses on envelopes. Here's how it works:
1) Launch Microsoft Word. 2) Click Tools > Letters and Mailings > Envelopes and Labels... 3) Type in what you want to see on the envelope. 4) The default feed direction is shown in the lower right corner of the dialog box. To change it, click Options and select the Printing Options tab. Adjust the settings as you please. 5) Click OK to exit the Options Dialog Box 6) Click Print (in the upper right corner of the "Envelopes and Labels" dialog box.
I hope this helps - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
I kicked the **** out of it and it started to print. I don't recommend it if you are afraid you may damage the electronics. The way I saw I spent damn near 70 dollars on some useless print cartidges nothing was wrong with them. The error message kept saying ADD CARTRIDGES. Anyway I'm thinking about a new printer anyhow.
Are you sure the text on the computer screen is in pure black color? Im thinking that maybe it is a Website link that is not fully black. Try this, highlight all the text and make sure the font color is set to black. In addition to that go into the printer settings and tell it to choose only Black and White printing.
Is it a new cartridge? If the cartridge has been sitting a while it can get clogged. Try using a moist paper towel and gently wiping the cartridge where the ink comes out. You could also try running the Lexmark Solutions Center program and use the clean nozzles option to force it to squirt out some black ink.
