Question about Creative Labs Zen Digital Media Player
I have owned a Creative ZEN 8GB player since I got it for christmas from my parents. However, just last night, the player would not turn on, or be recognized by any computer. The player felt warm to the touch, USB ports responded to the player being plugged in with a "power surge" message, and upon inspection, there was a burning smell from inside the player.
I'm assuming a major part of this device was fried, likely by the battery.
After going through Creative's support trees, I discovered that my player was out of warranty. My parents said that they had gotten rid of the player's reciept long ago, as well.
So here are my questions:
1: Is there any way to rescue my player in the first place?
2: Is is possible to return a product to Creative for repairs with no proof of purchase?

Did you install any drivers for this player?Try installing the drivers for the player if you have any for it then reboot then try plugging it in again to see if the PC sees it.If not,the player is broken.Most likely they can fix it with out proof of purchase but it may cost more then the player is worth.
