Frigidaire Model FSE446RHS shuts off mid cycle

Frigidaire dryer FSE446RHS. During dry cycle dryer will stop, if you wait until it cools down it will start and run again. Sometimes it takes three resets to get the load dried. checked for lint below lint trap and removed a little but not enough to cause any obstructions. Dryer vents into basement and discharge tube had no lint either...thanks

Heater element

Well it is supposed to cycle on and off all during the drying cycle or the clothes would be cooked! Air restrictions can cause the controls to shut down prematurely. The control is designed to shut off heat when it gets to be 160f in the machine. To test that the machines needs to be buckled up.

I have model # crgr7900A31 gas dryer front end loading. The dryer will not shut off. It continues to run.

Hi, If your dryer seems to run forever, it could be because of a clogged vent or internal ductwork. Your dryer may have an automatic cycle that turns off the dryer when the clothes are dry. It does this with a special thermostat or moisture-sensing system.
Normally, this is what happens during an automatic cycle: The thermostat tells the dryer to heat until the interior of the dryer reaches a pre-set temperature--say 135 degrees. When the dryer reaches the pre-set temperature, the thermostat tells the timer to begin advancing. (If there's a moisture sensor, the timer advances only if the moisture content of the clothing is low enough.) The timer advances until the interior cools, then the thermostat tells the timer to stop advancing, and tells the dryer to start heating again. This cycle continues until the clothes are dry. But if the vent is clogged, the dryer may never reach the proper operating temperature, so it doesn't send the signal to the timer and the dryer continues to run indefinitely, even if the clothes are completely dry. To fix the problem, clean the vent and/or internal ductwork.

My dryer has been difficult to start lately especially if stopped mid cycle. The lights are all on but it won't start up. Today I only used it 2 times and it was very difficult to start after pressing many...

You may be experiencing "Heat Retention" by stopping your dryer mid-cycle, which you should NOT ever have to do! If you have a minor vent restriction or if you open the dryer mid-cycle when the heat is on, this will cause a disruption in the airflow and rising temperatures can keep the dryer from restarting until it has been cooled long enough.
Check your vent all the way to the outside for restrictions/obstructions every 6 months. Clean your lint filter after each load and DO NOT stop the dryer mid-cycle!
Note: Stopping the dryer mid-cycle can also cause severe burns and even melt polyester fibers.

Dryer will not restart

Sadly, the thermostats in your dryer control the heating circuit only. There is a thermal fuse that will not allow the dryer to start, but it's one time only and cooling down will have no effect.

The scenario you describe is the motor cutting out on it's internal overload. When it gets to the point where it cuts out on the overload mid cycle, it's unlikely cleaning lint will solve the problem. You might want a tech to come out and verify that the motor needs to be replaced.

Another possibility is o loose connection in the power source. This could be at the dryer terminal block, in the dryer cord receptacle, or at the circuit breaker.
