Check the age of the battery. When it gets cold an older battery can't cope and can even freeze. An easy fix is to leave some kind of heat source, i.e. a lamp, under the engine to keep the battery from freezing. The more practical, albeit expensive way, is to replace the battery if its more than 3 years old.

1995 olds achieva 3.1 liter v6 does the starter require shims its a new starter makes noise but doesnt start the engine

I'm not familiar with your vehicle, but I've never encountered a vehicle needing shims on a starter motor.

What may happen is the teeth on the ring gear - the teeth on the outside of the flywheel - become worn. The starter meshes with these teeth and spins the engine to start it. If the teeth are worn the starter cannot mesh with them and consequently, can't turn the engine over.

Because of compression the engine usually stops in the same position - the worn teeth are at the starter.

Try turning the engine by hand/with a wrench through 180 degrees so that any worn teeth are away from the starter, and then try starting it. If the engine spins - the fault is worn teeth on the flywheel.

2004 saturn ion starting problems

The cranking problem could be a weak battery, bad connection between the battery and the starter, or a weak starter. Sometimes the brushes in a starter stick and don't make contact.
The check engine light should come on when the key switch is on and then go off once the engine starts.

Engine wont turn over on my gv 2006

The 1st thing i need to do is clarify what you mean by "won't trun over" do you mean the starter motor spins the engine and it will not fire up or that the starter doesn't trun the engine over? If the starter doesn't turn the engine over do you hear a clicking coming from the starter solenoid when this happens? If so replace the starter solenoid the heavy electrical contacts are burned.

Honda Odyssey 1996 200k wont start, engine doesnt turn over

Take a hammer or wrench or siimilar and bang on the outside of the starter motor - one solid thump should do it. If the car subsequently starts then the problem is that the bushings are worn in your starter motor. By thumping it you jiggle the bushings just enough to make electrical contact and get the car started. When it works it is like a miracle cure. However the problem will recur and get worse so you'll need to go to the mechanic to get your starter motor fixed.

Replaced starter but she still wont start

I assume you know that the starter turns over the engine,in a mechanical sense.
It has nothing to do with starting your vehicle, other than turning the ignition pulse wheel (Flywheel)

What help do you want?
Do you even work on your own vehicle?

1990 acura, when it gets hot outside, the check engine light comes on and wont let me start my car. Happens after about 12 hrs of sitting outside. Starts fine in the morning on my way to work, but then...

unfortunately anything could be causing your check engine light to come one. You'll actually need to have it towed to autozone or someplace like that to have the car scanned to determine what is causing the issue
