Did you spill liquid on the cooktop? sometimes if you just let it sit for a few days to let it dry out it will fix itself. but if you spilled oil on it it will not fix itself. you have a bad spark module and the only way to fix that is to remove the cookyop fromt he burner box. and find where all the wire go into this usually redish orange box sometimes its blue. but that is your spark module. let me know if you have any more questions

A single glass electrode isn't sparking on our GE gas cook top. The other four burners all spark fine. There is a spark underneath the cover on this single burner - just not on the electrode on...

Is this one that you use all the time? Maybe it's dirty and you could try to clean it somehow. If that doesn't work, you could find another sparking anode at a dealer and replace it. A toothbrush or other stiff bristle brush of similar type should do it. In the meantime, you can use a lighter with the gas on low to light the unit.
Hope this is of help

My GE Profile propane gas cook top was just installed yesterday. When I go to turn on one of the burners, all of the ignitors click. This can't possibly be normal. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, thats okay when you turn the knob voltage gets sent to the spark module, Then the module sparks all the burner igniter. And frame ignition only happens on the single burner of the knob you turned that sends gas to the burner associated with that knob.

Please rate me a "4" if this information was useful.

GE gas stovetop burner doesn't light

there are sparker modules on each burner behind the button, it may be that yours is failed, if you turn on other knob and you see spark at problem burner and still isn't lighting you have to make sure the black or grey tops are paced on perfectly, just give them a little nudge and you have to make sure area is perfectly clean for spark to take effect, spark will go for cleanest area on metal. so ensure area is clean and check burner top

One of 4 burners doesn't spark/light -- GE JGP979 Cook Top

I am going to assume you hear the "clicking" sound when you try to light the burner.
open the top of the stove. there are four burner. look at the one that is not lighting. use a straighten paper clip open the holes that is directly in-front of the tube that is facing the center of ignitor.
also make sure that the air vent directly behind the knob is fully open.

G.E Profile gas cook top #JGP640 ignitor.

It is sparking because the module does not sense the heat which would normally cause the sparking to stop.

It can be caused by a poor ground, make sure the ignitor at that burner is clean and free from any obstructions. If it is then it could either be a defective ignitor or spark module.

No Ignition

Dirt. Spilled oil, grease, milk etc. act as isolator and prevent contact between burner and casing (mass). You need to clean up burners, scrub all the dirt and make sure their seats are cleaned too (brass elements below burners).
