May have dirt on crank angle sensor ,loose/damaged. Located usually close to bottomf pulley on engine.. Remember to keep it simple and check for the obvious first (fuel/pump? is emergency shut off tripped accidentally from towing ? Turn ignition on and have someone listen at fuel neck for pump operation. Check all fuses.

SOURCE: 2000 hyundai elantra car cranks but wont turn over

Did you scan for any trouble codes? Whenever the 'CHECK ENGINE' (Service Engine Soon) light comes on, the ECU (Engine Control Unit) sets a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). These codes identify the particular engine management system which caused the light to come on. You'll need to use/find an OBDII (On-Board Diagnostic) Scanner to retrieve any code which have been stored in the ECU computer. Afterward, we might be able to help you DIAGNOSE the problem and perhaps fix the problem.

My 2008 excel is cranking over but won't

Do you have fuel in the car. If your gauge never gave you a problem then i would suspect the fuse for the fuel pump or the fuel pump itself.
