Question about Insignia D400a PC Desktop
I have an Insignia D400a. Recently I did a system restore with the recovery DVD that came with the unit. After all the security updates including SP3 I started updating as many drivers as I could find. On the Intel site there was a BIOS update which I downloaded (express install). The update was successful, but now the device manager doesn't detect the USB's or my media card reader. Which means my printer or other USB peripherals do not work. The new BIOS version is VA84510A.86A.0056.P20. My question is: would reflashing the BIOS with the original version as shipped solve the problem I'm having? If there are any owners of a D400a out there who haven't updated the BIOS, could you please email me the original BIOS version. I many need that, even if I end up taking the unit to a computer tech. If you can, either post it here, or you can email it to me at email@example.com. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Download the bios driver from here and try to update the bios again >>>

If the updated BIOS is the problem, reflashing the old version should remedy the situation. Many BIOS flash utilities save a copy of the old BIOS before they flash the new one, so you should check that before searching for an older version (which may still be available on the Intel site).
Before you try any of that though, you should go into Device Manager and uninstall the offending devices. Reboot the computer. Check Device Manager again to see that it re-added the devices. If it didn't right-click on the computer name in Device Manager and select Scan for hardware changes in the context menu to have Windows install the correct drivers for the devices. If the devices still don't work, then resorting to reflashing the BIOS is appropriate.
