Question about Logitech Harmony 670 LCD Remote Control

System error Remote has worked fine for months.  Got a low battery warning, then when we tried to replace batteries, then a "system error. disconnect usb then reinsert batteries".  Have connected and unconnected usb, and replaced batteries several times.  Now we only get this error.

Re: system error

I just talk to Logitech's support and they showed me how to reset the memory.

  1. Take the batteries out
  2. Hold down the 'Off' button and connect the USB to the computer
  3. The screen on the remote will read that you are in 'Safe' mode
  4. Update the Firmware
  5. Unplug the USB and put the batteries back in the remote
It should work now.

Re: system error

I'll second Tailgear's suggestion. I just did the same thing for the same problem and a new remote will be on its way soon. Unfortunately it is backordered. Fortunately it was under warranty. No known fix otherwise. I disassembled my old one and looked for anything obvious. I found nothing.

Re: system error

My harmony remote had the "system error 1"  I called Logitech and they said that it is a hardware failure and the remote is faulty.  After about 3 days they issued an RMA and sent me a new remote with no questions asked.  I didn't even have to send the old one back!  It took them a little while to get the ball rolling, but it did work.

Hi. Sadly I have some bad news for you. "System error 1" on a Harmony remote means that there is a hardware failure in the memory module of the remote. This can not be fixed by updating the firmware. When I contacted Logitech about this issue in the past, they replaced my remote because it was still in warranty, I would advise getting in contact with them to get it sorted out.

My logitech H628 Harmony remote displays System Error a message

Unfortunately, system error one is apparently a hardware issue. It means something about the memory being lost in your Harmony Remote. I had to get a replacement Harmony Remote from Logitech but you would have to see if you are still in your warranty period!!!

I hope you are so you can get a replacement!!! =)

The unit displays the error message "System Error 1" and "1. Disconnect form USB 2. Remove and re-insert batteries". I've done that and can't get error message to go away. The remote seems frozen.

I had this same issue and when I contacted Logitech, they told me it was a memory failure and I needed a replacement harmony remote. I was still under warranty so I got a replacement.

I would advise you contact Logitech to see if you are still in your warranty period so you can get a replacement!

DISH Remote burning through batteries!!

most likely there is a button on the remote that is stuck on. try moving all the buttons to see if they "feel" stuck. if not then take the remote apart and clean the contact pad bottoms and the surface of the board with rubbing alchohol. good luck!

Harmony 520 trouble updating

A. try a new USB cable. These can sometimes be the source of the connection trouble. If that does not work, then...
B. try removing your batteries and letting the remote sit for a few days with no source of power to clear any residual memory. Reinstall fresh batteries and try again. If that doesn't work...
C. try using a USB port on the back of the computer that is directly connected to the motherboard. Sometimes that helps.

Safe mode

To get your 550 out of safe mode, follow these steps.
1. Remove the batteries.
2. Hold the '2' button down.
3. While still holding the '2' button down, replace the batteries.
4. The remote will boot into the normal functionality.

Note: If the 'Off' button is held down while inserting the batteries, the remote will boot into 'Safe Mode'.
